## **Trustees' Report From 9 January to 31 December 2024** 

The Trustees present their report and accounts for EduWell Charity for the year ended 31 December 2024. 

The accounts have been prepared by the accoun�ng policies set out in note 1 to the accounts and comply with the charity's cons�tu�on, the Chari�es Act 2011, and Accoun�ng and Repor�ng by Chari�es: Statement of Recommended Prac�ce applicable to chari�es preparing their accounts by the Financial Repor�ng Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effec�ve 1 January 2019). 

## **Structure, Governance and Management** 

EduWell Charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisa�on (CIO), dedicated to the advancement of educa�on. Having served the community for over seven years, the charity operates under its "Educa�on Divisions" framework, underpinned by an integrated administra�ve body. 

The day-to-day management and execu�on of projects are overseen by a dedicated execu�ve unit associated with the Selly Oak Arabic School (SOAS), which draws upon ac�ve membership within the Birmingham community. This compact yet dynamic SOAS team implements transforma�ve projects through effec�ve administra�on, skilled coordina�on, and a commitment to robust methodologies. 

Trustees are appointed by the charity's cons�tu�on. New trustees are inducted into the workings of the charity, including their legal obliga�ons, the content of the governing document, and recent financial performance. 

## **Objec�ves and Ac�vi�es** 

that educa�on and well-being are fundamental rights for every child and every woman. Our work aims to enhance crea�vity and produc�vity, raise awareness of mental health, and increase opportuni�es for individuals to live with dignity. 

The charity undertakes numerous successful projects, both seasonal and ongoing, made possible through the unwavering support of generous philanthropists from our vibrant UK Birmingham community. 

## **Achievements and Performance: A Review of Ac�vi�es** 

reflec�ng our commitment to providing enriching educa�onal and cultural experiences. The following highlights key events and ini�a�ves undertaken during the period: 

- **Nurturing Young Minds: First Grade Agricultural Workshop (7th February 2024)** Our younger learners in the first grade par�cipated in a wonderfully hands-on agricultural workshop. Guided by the crea�ve instruc�on, this ac�vity provided a prac�cal and engaging introduc�on to the natural world and the origins of food, fostering curiosity and environmental awareness. 

- **Enhancing Digital Literacy: Cybersecurity Workshop (10th February 2024)** An excep�onally well-received session on cybersecurity was delivered, focusing on equipping individuals with prac�cal knowledge to protect their devices, such as smartphones and 



laptops. We were privileged to have this workshop led by a knowledgeable parent, highly experienced in the cybersecurity field, who provided valuable insights into safeguarding personal informa�on and naviga�ng online threats effec�vely. This ini�a�ve empowered our community with vital skills for online safety. 

##  **Celebra�ng the Spirit of Ramadan (March 2024)** 

- **Engaging Workshops:** A dedicated Ramadan workshop was held on 15th March 2024, where the involvement and interac�on of parents with their children in crea�ng symbolic ac�vi�es were deeply appreciated. These shared moments of crea�vity have undoubtedly forged las�ng, posi�ve memories. 

- **Parental Apprecia�on:** Feedback following these preparatory ac�vi�es was par�cularly heartening. 

- **AI for Young Learners:** workshops were conducted – one for younger children with parental par�cipa�on, and another tailored for older students, introducing them to this transforma�ve technology. 

##  **Eid al-Fitr: A Joyous Community Celebra�on (13th April 2024)** 

   - Selly Oak Arabic School hosted a vibrant Eid al-Fitr celebra�on, open to all and free of admission. Families and friends gathered for an a�ernoon filled with delicious food, fun games, crea�ve face pain�ng, a much-enjoyed bouncy castle, and immersive virtual reality experiences, making for a uniquely memorable and communal celebra�on.

   - valuable opportunity for reflec�on, fellowship, and the strengthening of communal bonds. 

- **A Tapestry of Cultures: Community Cultural Day (15th December 2024)** Our community came together for a truly splendid Cultural Day, a vibrant showcase of the rich diversity within Birmingham. Par�cipants adorned themselves in a wonderful array of tradi�onal a�re from myriad cultures and shared an impressive selec�on of delicious interna�onal dishes, generously contributed by our families. The day was further enriched by engaging video presenta�ons, though�ully prepared by some of our talented children, offering insights into various tradi�ons. The celebra�on, which included na�onal anthems and the proud display of na�onal flags, fostered a wonderful spirit of interac�on, joy, and mutual understanding. We extend our hear�elt gra�tude to all who contributed, not only through their culinary generosity but also for their unwavering support and encouragement These ac�vi�es, driven by the dedica�on of our staff, volunteers, and the ac�ve par�cipa�on of our community, exemplify EduWell Charity's commitment to its objec�ves.

Our ac�vi�es, as described above, provide clear public benefits through educa�onal advancement, cultural enrichment, and community cohesion. 

## **Risk Management** 

We have to iden�fy and review the risks to which the charity is exposed and ensure appropriate 



controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance against fraud and error. The Trustees regularly review the major strategic, business, and opera�onal risks which the charity faces and confirm that systems have been established to mi�gate these risks. 

## **Trustees' Responsibili�es:** 

We are responsible for keeping proper accoun�ng records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any �me the financial posi�on of the charity and enable it to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Chari�es Act 2011, the applicable Chari�es (Accounts and Reports) Regula�ons, and the provisions of the Trust deed. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and taking reasonable steps for the preven�on and detec�on of fraud and other irregulari�es.
