Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The main work of the charity has been
growing vegetables at our plot at Langley
House. The majority of these vegetables
have gone to our “sister” charity, Wivey
Kitchen, who make meals for those in the
community who need free meals.
The coppicing work done over the winter has
allowed the opening of wheelchair
accessible paths through the Langley House
woodland for the use of the residents.
A number of seed planting events were
carried out at both Langley House and at
shows in Miverton and Wiveliscombe to
show both children and adults how to plant
and nurture seeds.
Additional information (optional)
You may choose to include further statements
where relevant about:
Achievements against
objectives set
Para 1.41 The objectives were largely met in terms of
vegetable production and the coppicing
project. We had hoped to run a number of
children’s events at Langley House but a
new policy from the owners prohibiting more
thanafewchildrenprohibited this.
Performance of fundraising
activities against objectives
set
Para 1.41 Wivey Grows successfully provided some
£150 worth of honey in return for donations.
There were some small donations but no
grant funding applications were deemed
necessary this year.
Investment performance
against objectives
Para 1.41 N/A All funds are held in a “current” account

to be some £500.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 Reserves are held to ensure the ongoing
financial stability of the charity. Grant
funding is becoming harder to obtain so we
are holding on to reserves and reducing
spending in some areas (mainly
organisationalspending suchas software)

The charity’s principal
sources of funds (including
any fundraising)
Para 1.47 The charity achieved some £200 in
donations which covered the costs of
materials for growing vegetables. This
makes it practically self sustaining (in the
short term at least)
Investment policy and
objectives including any
social investment policy
adopted
Para 1.46 N/A
A description of the principal
risks facing the charity
Para 1.46 The main risk to the charity is our continued
presence at Langley House which is under
the control of the owners of the House and
they may either need the land back or sell
the House. We believe the risk is low as
relationships with the house, staff and
residents is good. We have further mitigated
this by obtaining and using a small allotment
plotin Wiveliscombe.
