WE OPENED A CHARITY SHOP IN OUR LOCAL VILLAGE. OUR AIM IS TO PROVIDE OUR PUPILS WITH LEARNING EXPERIENCES AS THEY HAVE SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS. THE LOCAL AND WIDER COMMUNITY CAN VISIT THE SHOP HAVE A BROWSE OR SIT AND READ AND MEET OTHER PEOPLE.
WE EMPLOY 1 MEMBER OF STAFF TO RUN THE SHOP AND HAVE 10 LOCAL VOLUNTEERS WHO HELP. WE DO NOT EXPECT TO MAKE A PROFIT. WE HAVE HAD REGARD TO PUBLIC BENEFIT. WE OPENED AN ADJOINING SHOP NEXT DOOR TO EXTEND THE SPACE A YEAR LATER.

IN APRIL 2023 WE ACQUIRED THE FRONT PART OF THE NEIGHBOURING BUILDING TO ENABLE US TO EXTEND OUR SELLING SPACE EVEN MORE.
THE SHOP HAS BECOME VERY BUSY AND IS WELL RECEIVED BY THE COMMUNITY OF EAST HERTFORDSHIRE. THE PUPILS FROM THE SCHOOL VISIT THE SHOP REGULARLY AS PART OF THEIR CAREER SUBJECT.

Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
WE CONTINUE TO SUCCESSFULLY RUN THE CHARITY SHOP. THE NEIGHBOROUGHING SHOP WAS PURCHASED BY THE LOCAL AUTHORITY, AND WE HAVE ACQUIRED THE FRONT PART OF THIS SHOP TO EXTEND OUR SELLING SPACE AND ACCEPT LARGER ITEMS TO SELL. THE REAR OF THIS BUILDING IS NOW A SATALITE CLASSROOM FOR OUR OLDEST PUPILS TO BE ABLE TO BE MORE INDEPENDENT AND HELP WITH THEIR TRANSITION WHEN THEY LEAVE AMWELL VIEW SCHOOL. OUR PUPILS HAVE ENJOYED VISITING THE SHOP AS PART OF THEIR LESSONS.
