## **ANNUAL REVIEW CHAIRMAN’S REPORT 2025** 

The Charity has built on from last year and the members continue to increase both on our Private Facebook Group and also on our email database. We have increased our presence on social media particularly on local Facebook Groups and the three local Authorities we mainly cover by uploading various informational posts. 

Monthly meetings and quarterly Saturday ones are continuing with an average attendance of 20 with the December/Christmas one exceeding 40. This was held at the local Community Centre for more comfort and naturally the increased numbers were due to the occasion too. 

We had unexpected donations from companies and institutions as a result of some of their employees or associated individuals attending meetings and benefited by them. This is very encouraging for us and we take it as an indication that they believe in what the Charity offers to the local community, happy to support it and spread awareness too. 

A dedicated mobile phone line was taken up to give an opportunity to anyone wishing to talk to us anonymously who is maybe finding it difficult to talk to their friends or relatives. Also, a YouTube Channel was created where interviews with cancer patients are uploaded in the hope that they inspire others going through cancer. Additionally, there are videos there on new research and discoveries which we also produce, given that we talk about these topics at our meetings. 

Professional speakers attended our meetings on 5 occasions and also the local MP in order to see for himself as to what we do in the community and what the main problems cancer patients are generally experiencing. These could be raised at Government level and one in particular relating to the delay in approving new drugs especially for difficult cancers to treat such as Pancreatic. 

The Charity organised 7 events/outings for cancer patients to get some respite from treatment from coffee mornings to a boat trip, a visit to a 



classic cycle museum and others. We attended 10 events organised by other Charities and institutions by way of networkings, to spread awareness of the Charity and on a couple we received donations too. 

Taking a seat on the local NHS Trust’s Cancer Board as well as Macmillan’s project board to build a new cancer centre nearby, have undoubtedly increased exposure of the Charity and we are thrilled to have such a collaboration. 

Due to attending more meetings, organising more events and visiting more places, relating expenses have naturally increased too. 

We continue to receive “cheering up gifts” at every meeting which are so welcoming by the attendees. In one’s cancer journey these are so vital as they really do exactly that, “cheer up”, particularly as they are donated by unknown individuals and businesses!!
