**public benefit)**|Our aim as a charitable organisation is to open an arts centre in
Guisborough, and this year we have further developed and promoted the
arts activities which will find a home in the arts centre, exploring additonal
genres (sound, light, movement through local streets and scenes,
storytelling and expressing through image, music and ambient
soundscape) - demonstrating and strengthening again the community’s
appetite for the arts and the centre.
The following projects were initiated and completed during the year.
**Restorying audio trail**
Enabled by a generous award, donations, and a huge amount of voluntary
work, our Restorying audio trail was well supported by community groups,
artists and the public who explored the trail following the trail map we
provided online and via local outlets. The trail features music, poetry,
prose and local soundscapes combined in an immersive sound track, and
it continues to be available via our website at
https://gart.uk/restorying-2025/
. The project included a guided exploration
of the soundscape moving through the locations it curates and celebrates,
and a community day in which we provided a taste of what a community
arts centre could do. The day was run in collaboration with our partner,
Guisborough’s eco community the Nest, which enabled us to showcase
the audio and visual art to an additional tranche of our local community via
an immersive multi-media (audio visual projections and material visual
objects) experience.
We also published the Restorying book (available from Guisborough
bookshop) which showcased some of the poetry, prose and visual art
produced by artists, poets and writers working with and within the
community which did not feature in the audio trail.
**Lifestories oral history project**
Our volunteers, after training by historian Dr Henry Irving of Leeds Becket
University, recorded interviews with members of the community recalling
their stories. This is an ongoing project and the recordings already made
will be preserved in the Tees Archive with transcripts and full
documentation.

Numbers of volunteers varied week by week and were in the range 10-15
people in most weeks of the Guisborough Giant project.
Professional artists made a significant contribution providing skills,
confidence and inspiration to people in our community; some worked on a
pro bono basis; others were paid: all fee payment rates were in line with

adopted.|We have no permanent paid staff and therefore do not need to hold
reserves to cater for eventualities such as redundancy. Nor do we have
permanent premises or stores of equipment and materials. Over time we
may begin to build up reserves with a view to acquiring a physical
location which can serve as an arts centre, and at that stage we would

funds to advance the charitable aims:- promoting arts activity within
Guisborough and surrounding area.
The Restorying project was funded through a generous award from
Borderlands Creative Communities and small donations from local
individuals.
The Lifestories project was supported by a generous £700 individual
donation.
The funds were spent in local businesses and with local artists in
accordance with our charitable aim to promote the arts within our area;
with a view to sustainable environmental practices wherever possible. All
financial details were fully disclosed to our funders in line with our policy
