through the provision of facilities for hobbies,
recreation or other leisure time occupation
including practical interests, skills sharing, the
learning of new skills, and helping with

Bee Wirral CIO was successful in obtaining
some funding from Unity Trust Bank to enable a
support worker to provide activities for men in
the Birkenhead area, this funding was received
in this year although the spending for the

break up.
In a number of cases this has led to positive
court outcomes for families resulting in children
and non-resident parents having unsupervised
contacts and dynamics settling to a new normal
for children. This not only positively impacts the
wellbeing of the child/ren but the whole family.
Bee Wirral CIO has supported families in
obtaining essential items for their homes at no
cost such as beds/sofas etc but due to
generous public donations of non-essentials
items such as soft furnishings and children’s
toys we have been able to help a number of
families turn an empty property into an
environment in which children can feel safe,
confident and able to thrive. These cases have
been through referrals from social care
indicating that our partnerships with other

CIO we are in a good position in that we
have no outstanding liabilities and have
secured funding to support projects moving

Reserves are assets that an organisation
maintains over and above those required for the
day to day operations. Reserves allow the
organisation to deal with any unexpected
issues, such as sudden and unexpected
reductions in income or large items of
expenditure that were not budgeted for. It is
typical for a trading organisation, including a
charity, to maintain a general reserve
comprising assets which are either cash (i.e.
cleared funds at the bank) or in a form that can
be converted into cash within the required
period i.e. within a short period of time.
Bee Wirral is at this point in an excellent
position as we do not have any staff on payroll
or commitments to rents or other liabilities either
current or non current.
Much of the organisations costs are currently
being covered by Bee Wirral CIC while the
transition of activities is taking place for this
reason the reserve policy is that ‘Reserves
should be at least three months of monthly
outgoings not covered by restricted funding
income such as grants
The Trustees will agree a target level for the
general reserve, which will be kept under review
and reassessed regularly. The amount of
reserve will be reviewed annually and a new
reserve amount set after year end accounts are
completed.
Reserve target for 2025 has been set as
£1500.00, as this is our first fully active year this
will be received within 6 months rather than the
usual 12 months.
The actual level of reserves at any time will then
be measured against this target, and
appropriate action taken to make up any
shortfall / utilise any surplus.
This review will take into account, current and
non current liabilities/funding shortfalls/cost of
wrapping up the organisation and joint working
