The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance wlth the Financlal Reporting Standard appllcable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) leffective l January 20191. OBJEcfIvES AND ACTIvfrIES Objectives and aims The charity 15 managed by the committee and tnjstees with its primary obJertive being the provision of tslking newspaper service for the bllnd and partially sighted In the Swindon area.Thls objective, Is continuatlon of our main objertlve from our former charlty (Registered Charfty number.. 2846651. Slgnlflcant actlvitie5 On the 23rd April 2024, all of the assets and liabilitles We ft)rmally tranSferd from The Swindon and Distrlct Talking Newspaper Association (Unincorporated) to the newly formed Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE Charltable activities The charity is run wholly by volunteers and has continued to operate in the format developed in the former charity following the coronaviru5 pandemic. A memory stick is produced every two weeks and there is currently no plan In place to increase the production frequency. There would be challenges in attempting to do thls as we have found It difficult to recruit volunteers with a technlcal background appropriate to recording studi05. We are very dependent upon too few volunteer with these skills. The commlttee'5 primary aim is to oversee a successful Operaon along the current lines. FINANCIAL REVIEW Financial position The financlal state of the charity was Inherited from the former charity on 23rd Aprll 2024, this contlnues to be acceptable but we are eating into these reserves. The charlty Is grateful for donavons from generous listeners but there will be an essential need in the years ahead in order to keep the on-going financial state of the charity buoyant. The financial reserve5 currently Stand at £11,959. FUTURE PLANS The plan for the next year, follows the plans of the former charity being to consolldate the provision of talklng newspaper for the bllnd and partlally sighted people In the Swindon area. srRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT Governing document The charity is controlled by Its governing document and is registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organi5ation {CIO) No. 1206237. R¢crultrnent and appolntment of new trustees Appointment of the trustees 15 governed by the trust deed of the charfty and committee. Organisational structure The charity Is managed by the commlttee and trustees. There are approximately 20 volunteers who glve willingly of their time to provlde for the adminlstration of the service, as well as Correspondence and the delivery of BOOM boxes for the fortnightly memory stick5 that are sent out. Risk management The trustees have a duty to identlfy and review the risks to which the charity Is exposed and to ensure approprlate controls are in place to provlde reasonable assurance against fraud an(J error.
