Trustees’ Annual Report

1. Trustee Names, Method of Appointment, and Training

The charity is governed by three trustees, all of whom were appointed on 30 November 2023 : - Sacha Llewellyn (Chairperson) - Fabrice Laroche - Eva Oh

Trustees are appointed on a voluntary basis . No formal induction or training programme was required, though trustees familiarised themselves with the charity’s governing document, legal duties, and strategic aims.

2. Structure, Governance and Management

Rediscovering Art by Women is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) , registered with the Charity Commission (No. 1205988). The charity is managed collaboratively by the Trustees , the Chair of Trustees , and a Consultant , who together oversee strategic direction, daily operations, activities, and partnerships.

There are currently no sub-committees in place. The trustees periodically review governance and risk but have not identified any significant risks requiring formal mitigation structures at this stage.

3. Objectives and Aims

The charity’s object is:

“The advancement of education in the fields of 20th century and contemporary art and design by women artists and by gender nonconforming artists, in particular but not exclusively by: 3.1.1 providing exhibitions, talks, seminars and other events and information; 3.1.2 carrying out research and disseminating the results of such research; 3.1.3 loaning works to public art collections in the UK and abroad; and 3.1.4 awarding grants to contemporary women and gender non-conforming artists.”

To achieve these aims, the charity undertakes a range of activities including: - Loaning works from the RAW Collection to national and international museums and institutions - Curating exhibitions focused on historic and contemporary women artists - Conducting and publishing research - Supporting contemporary artists whose work aligns with the charity’s mission

5. Financial Review

The charity achieved a surplus of £5,086 for the period. This surplus will be used to support core operational costs, primarily the salary of the Consultant who runs the charity’s day-to-day activities.

The Trustees have agreed a reserves policy to maintain a minimum of six months’ operating costs to ensure financial sustainability and stability.

6. Future Developments

Looking ahead, the charity will continue its curatorial and research focus on women and gender non-conforming artists. While many upcoming exhibitions are currently in development and not yet public, the overall programme is expected to grow.

Planned future activities include: - Launch of a new website - Ongoing work to secure funding for contemporary artist support - Continued loaning of works from the RAW Collection to museums worldwide - Ongoing development of curatorial projects aligned with the charity’s mission

7. Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities

The Trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Annual Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and UK Accounting Standards. They must ensure that the financial statements give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity, safeguard its assets, and take reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and irregularities.

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 APRIL 2025

I report to the Trustees of Rediscovering Art by Women on the accounts for the year ended 30 April 2025 set out on pages 5 to 6.

As the charity trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

You consider that the charity is exempt from an independent examination under the Charities Act 2011 ("the Act"). In accordance with your instructions I have compiled these financial statements in order to assist you to fulfil your statutory responsibilities, from the accounting records and from information and explanations supplied to me.
