One of the areas of focus is offering support to families who are caring for a loved one that has experienced sudden onset conditions following traumatic brain injury (TBI). TBI may mean that the individual ends up in a prolonged disorder of consciousness. The Bobby & Steve Foundation aim to support families by providing information to help navigate the social care system, as well as offer financial support to individuals and or other charities. The Trustees have referred to the Charity Commission’s general guidance on Public Benefit when reviewing the Charity’s aims and objectives. ## **Trustees** The Trustees who served during the period were as follows: Robert Peter Laviniere Sylma Laviniere Marilla Miles-Wilson Stuart Anthony Austrie Geraldine Ann Vickers ## **Organisation and decision-making procedures** The Trustees meet regularly to discuss priorities for support including; - Potential individuals who would benefit from the Foundation’s support - Potential benefactors - Decision making and discussion for further grant awards - All administrative duties and financial responsibility **THE BOBBY & STEVE FOUNDATION** 2 **TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE PERIOD ENDED 01 APRIL 2025** _________________________________________________________________________________________ ## **Development, activities and achievements** This is the first period in which the Foundation existed following its creation and The Trustees feel that they have been successful in setting up policies in accordance with the objectives of the Foundation. The Foundation has considered the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit. During the period, the Trustees focused on building relationships with related charities who support people with brain conditions. The Trustees are happy to report that the Foundation now has an association with Encephalitis International, and we see this as a positive step and a public benefit building awareness of the support the Foundation can offer. Our association with Encephalitis International means that we have access to a larger database of individuals needing help. A case has been presented to us for an individual who could benefit from therapy sessions. The Trustees are considering the proposition of offering our first grant to this individual to cover the payment of the therapy sessions. The Trustees intend on continuing to build and expand our knowledge in the area of neurological conditions by attending related conferences and workshops with like-minded charities. The Trustees expectation is this will provide networking opportunities and bring to our attention clients who may have suffered, or have family who have suffered from brain injuries, those who may need our help and support or who may benefit from our grants, we see this as a major public benefit. In order to build awareness of the Bobby & Steve Foundation we intend on hosting a dinner and dance event. We will work with other charities such as Headway and Different Strokes who also support brain injury survivors. Our aim is to schedule several fund-raising events to enable us to start and continue to offer grants to individuals and families who may benefit from our charity. The Trustees confirm that activities were carried out in line with the charity’s objectives. ## **Financial review** The total incoming resources of the Foundation during the period amounted to £5,104 of this total £4,982 related to donations received and £122 related to the sale of T-shirt merchandise. The total resources expended in the period amounted to £1,930 leaving a net credit of £3,174 ## **Funds** No part of the funds of the Foundation is under any form of restriction ## **Future developments** The Trustees intend to continue with the same policies in the future. ## **Grant Making policy** The Trustees meet on a regular basis during the year and consider which individuals could benefit from the Foundation’s support. The Trustees’ policy is to distribute funds to a range of well-deserving individuals in accordance with the objectives of the Foundation. ## **Reserves policy** The Foundation is a grant making charity. It has received donations from the general public. The Foundation has not incurred any administration costs. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) to the Charities Act 2011 (the Act)) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to: - examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act; - to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(1)(a) of the 2011 Act; and - to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. ## **Basis of independent examiner’s report** My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. ## **Independent examiner’s statement** In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention: (1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: - to keep accounting records in accordance with the 2011 Act; and - to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act - have not been met; or (2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. Robert Laviniwe Sylma Laviniue Trnstse **THE BOBBY & STEVE FOUNDATION** 7 ## **1 Accounting policies** ## **1.1 Accounting convention** The Financial Statements have been prepared in accordance with both the Charities Act 1993, Section 42(3) on the Receipts and Payments basis, and the Church in England and Wales Accounting Regulations. ## **1.2 Funds** Unrestricted funds are those which are available for use at the discretion of the Trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the charity and which have not been designated for other purposes. ## **1.3 Income** Voluntary donations and any associated tax claim are accounted for when the donation is received by the charity. ## **1.4 Grants payable** Donations to charitable causes will be accounted for as they are paid or when donations have been committed to by the Trustees. No grants have been made in this period but will be in the future. ## **1.5 Resources expended** All expenditure is accounted for on a Receipts and Payments basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all costs related to that category. ## **1.6 Governance costs** Governance costs include all expenditure not directly related to the charitable activity and are included in the Statement of Financial Activities on a Receipts and Payments basis. ## **2 Voluntary income** |Donations (Unrestricted)
