ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
The Society incorporated the HPSET/NAHPS Professional Standards and Code of Conduct into one document, updating the standards, removing duplication, publishing one easy to read, single point of access standard at the launch of SoHPS.
The HPSET/SoHPS website with the public register was technically upgraded. The new logo was launched and information from the NAHSP website transferred to the SoHPS website.
A survey of registrants was undertaken to gather their views on the society’s registration content on the website, and of the their personal webpage where they upload the data to their audit profile with the society. The feedback the registrants gave was reviewed, researched and revised by the registration sub-group. The content of the profile and new guidelines were published on how to upload data to the audit page as a result of the survey.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE TRUSTEES
Law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the Trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year. Under that law trustees have elected to prepare the financial statements in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (United Kingdom Accounting Standards and applicable law). The financial statements are required by law to give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the surplus or deficit of the charity for that period.
In preparing these financial statements, the Trustees are required to:
-
Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently
-
Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent
-
Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation.
The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and which enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. The trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of The Healthcare Play Specialist Education Trust
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Society of Health Play Specialists (charity number 1205808) for the period ended 30th September 2024, which are set out on pages 7 to 10.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
As the charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 ('The Charities Act') and that an independent examination is needed.
I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Basis of independent examiner's statement
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparision of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair' view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in c
-
1 accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or
-
the accounts do not accord with those records; or
-
2
-
3 the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view’ which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
