_The main activities are as follows:_
a) Conducting research into neo slavery in the plantation sector of Sri Lanka
and among the repatriated plantation workers from Sri Lanka.
b) Publishing it in English.
c) Translating and publishing it in Tamil and Sinhala.
d) Empowering the handicapped Malaiyah Tamil through education and
forming a separate unit to handle this programme.
e) Helping the victims of Cyclone Strom Ditwah (November 2025) in Sri
Lanka.

## Achievements and performance
**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year.**
- **1) Conducted a groundbreaking research on the continued neo-slavery among the Malaiyaha Tamils in Sri Lanka and in South India from November 2024 to November 2025.**
_Objective: to create awareness on the continued neo-slavery in the tea and rubber plantations in Sri Lanka and the plights of the victims of the Srima -Shatri Pact of 1964 who are living in South India and to bring about a change in their lives._

1) **Conducted a ground-breaking research on the continued neo-slavery among the Malaiyaha Tamils in Sri Lanka and in South India from November 2024 to November 2025.** This research represents far more than pages and words—it is the living history of a forgotten community. It vividly documents how an entire people, having endured every brutal manifestation of neo-slavery, continue to persevere after two centuries. This extensive research will undoubtedly serve as a powerful instrument for social activists confronting those who, for generations, exploited the labour and dignity of an entire community, denying them their fundamental rights. It stands as a clarion call for justice This research contains three parts: **Part I: Historical Account titled** Unfinished Emancipation: Colonial Neo- Slavery in Sri Lankan and South Indian Plantations — A Short History of the Malaiyaha Tamils. Mr. Adl Kar Bawder (AKA B. A. Kader) – Trustee -led this research with the assistance of Mrs. Sanjeewani Rupasinghe (another trustee) and volunteers in Sri Lanka. **Part II: Field Study titled:** Voices of the Voiceless Across Two Borders: Lived Experiences of Repatriated Sri Lankan Tamils under the Sirima–Shastri Pact — A Field Study. Prepared by Mrs Sanjeewani Rupasinghe, one of our Trustees who is a PhD Candidate, University of Hull, United Kingdom, and Senior Lecturer, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka **Part Three titled:** Empowering Malaiyaha Tamils: A Comprehensive SocioEconomic Assessment in Tamil Nadu, India — A Field Study Prepared by LISSTAR (Loyola Institute of Social Science Training and Research, Chennai) Dr Bernard D'Sami, Senior Researcher Dr Chandraprakash Y, Researcher Mr Ahilan Joe Woutres J.J., Researcher While we provided no monetary compensation for this work, we supported essential research requirements, including transportation, accommodation, fieldwork logistics, and meeting arrangements. Beyond this, every word in this book represents the dedication and tireless effort of its creators. The financial support was rendered by Dr. P , Director, Renaissance, Tami Nadu, India and Mr. Kanagasabai Indra. United Kingdom. It took over 12 months and Mrs Sanjeewani Rupasinghe, visited Tamil Nadu, India and Sri Lanka to conduct this research. We held over 8 zoom meetings and discussed the outcome.
## **2) 09.09.2026:**
**Inauguration of Malayagam Educational Resilience and Innovation Trust – (MERIT)**
_Objective:_ ‘Empowering Malayagam Through Education’ To help and support students from Malaiyaham with focus on students who have obtained places in university to ensure they are financially sustainable and able to complete their courses without worrying about money.
- 4) _**Holding two painting exhibitions in the UK in February 2005 and April 2025.**_
_To promote creative arts and to created public awareness on the newslavery that persists for over two centuries in the Sri Lanka plantations._
## 2) **Inauguration of Malaiyagam Educational Resilience and Innovation Trust –(MERIT)**
_Mission:_ To help and support students from Malaiyaham with focus on students who have obtained places in university to ensure they are financially sustainable and able to complete their courses without worrying about money.
For this purpose we formed the separate unit: Malaiyagam Educational Resilience and Innovation Trust –(MERIT) under the leadership of our Trustee Mr. Ravi Ravindran, in order to pay special attention to this programme.
Contributions are expected from any individual who feel they can support the people of Malaiyaham for their centuries of contribution for the economy and the people of Sri Lanka whilst sacrificing their own and their families lives and development. The fund will perpetuate continuous development of the young people of Malaiyaham through financial support and mentoring. Graduates who have benefited from the fund need to give back in some shape or form. This could be supporting up and coming students by mentoring or by financially contributing to the endowment fund
_Within a month of its inauguration, the MERIT was able to support five university students of plantation workers’ children._
## 3) _Holding two painting exhibitions in the UK._
_Our trustee Mr._ Segar Kalirasa _with the support of our Consultant Mr_ Mohamed Fauzer _at Wembley in February 2025 and at Harrow in April 2025._
- _**4) Supporting the victims of the Cyclonic storm Ditwah in the plantation sector – Sri Lanka** ._
_Sri Lanka. Particularly the. central part of the country where majority of the Malaiyaha Tamils live, were devasted by the storm Ditwah in November 2025._
_Our trustee Mr. Ravi Ravindran visited Sri Lanka and with the support of the lectures of Peradeniya University and activists he involved in the relief works._
_**3)** November 2025: Supporting the victims of the Cyclonic storm Ditwah in the plantation sector – Sri Lanka._
_We were able to provide dry food parcels to 250 victims, who were sheltered at a make-shift camp in Happutale, Sri Lanka in collaboration with our supporters in Norway._
_Objective: to mobilize local and international support to provide immediate relief the victims, to conduct a survey about the damages caused and helping to resettle them in safe areas._

_The main financial risk to the charity is reduction in donations. The aim is to build up a reserve in the coming year to cover in the event of a loss of income and to meet any unforeseen expenditure that may occur._

_In the coming year we S4M in collaboration with Renaissance Trust in Tamil Nadu, India, is planning to Publish the Triangulated study in English, Tamil and Sinhala, to meet the policy makers and relevant authorities of India and Sri Lanka._
_We also planning to continue our MERIT program more effectively._
_In addition, we will continue the rehabilitation work among those affected by storm Ditwah._
_More importantly we plan to launch the Triangulated study in the UK. Tamil Nadu, India and Sri Lanka_
