_We had around 15 volunteers supporting our activities in the_ Contribution made by _year._ Volunteers _We are grateful for the many hours volunteers have spent supporting at our events and encouraging public participation. Without this valuable contribution of time, energy and expertise we would not have been able to achieve so much._ 



## Achievements and performance 

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year.** 

- **1) On 18.11.2023, ‘Malayagam 200 London’ - Conference and Art exhibition at Sudbury Methodist Church Hall, 809 Harrow Road, Wembley, HA0 2LP** 

_Objective: to create awareness on the continued neo-slavery in the tea and rubber plantations in Sri Lanka by commemorating the 200 years of their history in Sri Lanka and the plights of the victims of the Srima -Shatri Pact living in India._ 

_Program: 2.30 pm – 8 pm At Hall 1_ 

_Painting Exhibition & Malayaga Books intro and sales (the books were sold by the authors and publishers – S4M did not incur any expense or gained any profit) At Hall 2 Malaaygam 200 Seminar Session_ 

   - _Cultural Programmes and speeches_ 

   - _Special Speech by Mr. B.A. Kader – the author of the first history book on the Malayaga Tamils and the neo-slavery  in Sri Lanka._ 

   - _Five counsellors made guest speeches_ 

   - _Networking_ 

   - _There was a plan to auction the paintings. However, it was withdrawn because the audience emphasized that the priceless paintings produced by renowned artists in Tamil Nadu, India should be preserved._ 

- 2) **09.12.2023: Malayagam 200 Chennai - (India) conference and Art exhibition at Loyla College, Nelson Manickam Rd, Nungambakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu 600034** , **India** 

_Objective: to create awareness on the continued neo-slavery in the tea and rubber plantations in Sri Lanka by commemorating the 200 years of their history in Sri Lanka and the plights of the victims of the Srima -Shatri Pact living in India_ 

_This conference was jointly organized by S4M and Loyala College, Chennai._ 

_The programs were very much the same as the Malayagam 200 London. However, there was a striking difference between the two: several popular politicians, artists and academics participated in this conference and pledged their support to the cause. Some of speakers are as follows: Hon. K.S. Masthan,_ Minister of Minorities Welfare, Non Resident Tamils Welfare, Refugees & Evacuees and Wakf Board. Government of Tamil Nadu. _Hon. Pon. Jayaseelan – MLA Kulalur Rev. Fr. Dr Louise Arokyasamy – Principal – Loyola College Trichchi Velusamy MP Prof. S. Vijechandiran – University of Peradeniya – Sri Lanka Mr. Vanni Arasu – Joint-Secretary – L.T.P The painting exhibition was held at Loyala College for a week. Its impact was immediately felt. The Minister K.S. Masthan agreed on policy to consider our demand to form a separate Authorly to handle the problems of the Repatriates from Sri Lanka. However, he advised us to submit a detailed report to justify the demand. Therefore we undertook to prepare a research based report to him._ 



- **3)** _**World Social Forum Kathmandu on 17.02.2024**_ 

_S4M Jointly organized the participation with South Asia Alliance for Poverty Eradication of Nepal._ 

_Theme: ‘Let us join hands to end the neo-slavery._ 

_Speakers: Rev.Fr. A.Iridayaraja JS.J Controller of Examination – Loyaola College- Chennai India._ 

_Rev. Dr. Arockiasamy J. Assistant Professor Department of history – Loyaola College- Chennai – India._ 

_Dr. P.Mahalingam, Trustee, Renaissance Trust – Tamil Nadu- India Mr. B.A.Kader – Trustee, S4M – United Kingdon Mr.Sudhir Shrestha – SAAPE – Nepal_ 

_Delegates from many countries attended the meeting. It helped to get to know several social organizations from various countries and to create awareness among them on the continued neo-slavery._ 

- **4)** _**15.09.2024 Malaygam  201 London:**_ **conference and Art exhibition at  At: St. Augustine’s Wembley Park, located at 152 Wembley Hill Road, Wembley, London, HA9 8EW.** 

Main events: Seminar, Books Exhibition & Painting exhibition. Chief Guest: Mr. Bava Selladurai – Popular Artist from Tamil Nadu, India.

_Cash at bank at 31/08/2024 was £763.11 in unrestricted funds._ 

_The main financial risk to the charity is reduction in donations. The aim is to build up a reserve in the coming year to cover in the event of a loss of income and to meet any unforeseen expenditure that may occur. Not applicable_

_In the coming year we S4M in collaboration with Renaissance Trust in Tamil Nadu, India, is planning to complete the ongoing research on the plight of the victim of Srima-Shastri pact._
