Registered Charity No. 1205566 For the period 01 August 2024 to 31 July 2025
Objec&ves and Ac&vi&es
Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document
The charity’s purpose is to advance the Hindu religion and culture for the public benefit, with particular reference to the Telugu Brahmin community. This is achieved through:
-
Providing Brahmin priests to support Hindu communities with religious rituals and ceremonies;
-
Promoting Vedic education that supports Hindu religious practices;
-
Organising workshops and events focused on the Telugu and Sanskrit languages, hosting religious events in those languages, and publishing relevant educational materials and resources for people of Telugu origin and their families in the UK.
The charity operates solely for purposes that are charitable under UK law.
Summary of the main ac&vi&es in rela&on to those purposes for the public bene;t
During the year, UKTBC delivered religious, educational, linguistic and cultural activities that directly support its objects. The activities recorded in the accounts and project schedule include Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam in Rugby, Rudra Homam in Leicester, Balamukundam, Udbhav, Harikatha in London, Project Suprabhatham and VipraVaani.
These activities provided public benefit by increasing access to Hindu religious practice, Vedic education, Telugu and Sanskrit learning, cultural preservation, devotional gatherings and community cohesion. The charity remains volunteer-led and seeks to keep activities accessible, with income generated through voluntary donations, modest event contributions and charitable activity receipts.
Public bene;t statement
The trustees confirm that they have had due regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit when exercising their duties and planning the charity’s activities. The trustees have ensured that programmes and operations further the charity’s charitable purposes and deliver public benefit through access to Vedic education, religious ceremonies, cultural preservation, language learning and community engagement.
Grant-making policy
During the reporting period, the charity did not make grants to individuals or organisations and does not currently operate a formal grant-making programme. Any future grants would only be considered where they clearly align with the charity’s objects and where public benefit can be demonstrated.
Social investment policy
The charity did not make any social investments or programme-related investments during the reporting period. The trustees will consider such investments only where they are consistent with the charity’s objects, Charity Commission guidance and responsible stewardship of charitable funds.
Contribu&on made by volunteers
UKTBC is a volunteer-led organisation. The trustees recognise that the delivery of the charity’s programmes depends significantly on the time, skills and commitment of volunteers. Although no monetary value is included in the accounts for volunteer time, volunteers supported teaching, ritual coordination, event logistics, food preparation, administration, community communications, publication work and safeguarding of cultural practices.

Achievements and Performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity
During the period 01 August 2024 to 31 July 2025, UKTBC continued to deliver activities aligned to its charitable purposes. The charity’s work supported beneficiaries by enabling religious participation, facilitating access to Brahmin priests and Vedic rituals, promoting Telugu and Sanskrit education, and strengthening cultural identity among Telugu Brahmin families and the wider Hindu community in the UK.
Project Suprabhatham
Project Suprabhatam provided daily Vedic chanting classes for one hour through Microsoft Teams. Each batch learns for six months, covering the five fundamental Vedic Sooktas. The project contributes to the charity's object of providing Vedic education that supports Hindu religious activities. Public benefit arises through structured access to traditional Vedic chanting, preservation of sacred knowledge, support for daily spiritual practice, and preparation of volunteers and learners to participate more confidently in rituals and ceremonies.
Balamukundam
Balamukundam is UKTBC’s free weekly language education programme for children and families, delivered throughout the year with no fees charged to learners. During the period, the Telugu stream delivered 32 classes for approximately 330 students, supported by 32 volunteer teachers. The Sanskrit stream was supported by 3 Sanskrit teachers and around 30 students. The accounts record Balamukundam expenditure of £1,388.57 during the year. The project directly supports the charity’s object of promoting Telugu and Sanskrit language education and literature, and provides public benefit by preserving linguistic and cultural heritage, supporting children of Telugu origin in the UK, encouraging intergenerational learning, and strengthening community cohesion.
Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam, Rugby (SRK)
Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam in Rugby was the charity's largest recorded activity in the year, with expenditure of £7,424.50 and attendance of approximately 400 people. The event supported the advancement of Hindu religion and culture through a traditional devotional celebration of Sri Sita and Sri Rama, bringing families and volunteers together in worship, music, community service and shared saatvik food. The programme also included Harikatha in Rugby, presenting Sundarakanda from Valmiki Ramayanam through classical storytelling and music. As part of the programme, around 100 Ramayanam books from Rishi Peetham were distributed to children, supporting religious education, family learning and the transmission of dharmic values to the next generation.
Rudra Homam
Rudra Homam in Leicester supported the charity’s religious object by facilitating Vedic fire worship and participation in traditional ritual practice. The accounts record Rudra Homam expenditure of £1,002.00 during the year. The project provided spiritual benefit, strengthened community participation in Vedic worship and supported the availability of trained priests and volunteers for religious ceremonies.
Udbhav
Udbhav was delivered as a community cultural and educational event celebrating classical dance and music. The event included 25 performances, attracted an audience of approximately 150 people, and certificates were presented to participants. The accounts record Udbhav expenditure of £1,125.00 during the year. The project supported the charity’s wider objectives by providing a platform for cultural learning, artistic expression, community participation and engagement of families and young people, while promoting Telugu and Hindu cultural heritage in an inclusive public setting.

Harikatha
Harikatha in London promoted Hindu religious and cultural education through classical devotional storytelling, music and scriptural themes. The programme featured Harikatha Choodamani Sri M.V. Simhachala Sastry garu, presenting Sundarakanda from Valmiki Ramayanam. The accounts record Harikatha expenditure of £798.26. Public benefit arises from making religious narratives and dharmic values accessible to the community in an engaging format, supporting both spiritual understanding and cultural continuity.
VipraVaani and digital/community educa&on
VipraVaani continued to serve as an educational and cultural publication initiative, sharing dharmic knowledge, Telugu and Sanskrit heritage, and community reflections. UKTBC also continued digital and community engagement through groups and informal networks that support religious coordination, food culture, community learning and scriptural study.

Dependence on volunteers: the charity relies heavily on volunteer capacity for teaching, events, administration and community engagement.
-
Financial sustainability: income is dependent on donations and activity-related contributions, while events can require significant upfront expenditure.
UKTBC Trustees’ Annual Report 2024-25
-
Event delivery and compliance: large gatherings, food preparation and fire rituals require careful venue selection, insurance, risk assessment and compliance with health and safety requirements.
-
Technology dependence: online classes and community communications rely on stable digital platforms and volunteer technical support.
-
