CHAIRMANS REPORT 22ND NOVEMBER 2025
Good morning everyone and welcome to this Annual General Meeting of the William Judge Trust Allotments on Saturday 22[nd] November 2025.
We have had a very quiet year as far as major works are concerned this year on the allotments. Having had to make up the shortfall after grants in the installation of water last year our finances remain low.
The balance as at todays date is £1779.84 and we still have to pay the public liability insurance and also the water charges.
Hence the reason for the increase in prices this year to £60.00 per plot When paying your fees please remember to put your plot number as a reference so I know who has paid
The accounts have been audited for last year and submitted to the Charity Commission. You will note that the Accounts will be listed as late this year. This is due to an error on my part and I apologise. When we changed from an ordinary account to a CIO I didn’t realise that I had to close down the original Charity Account (this has now been done) and submit accounts to the new number from 31[st] October 2023 to 31[st] December 2024 Thanks to a very kind Accountant these have been re written at no charge and now submitted and accepted by the Charity Commission)
The site has been well maintained thanks to the Management Team work parties, with special thanks to Mr Mercer for carrying out a number of remedial works for us. Also to Chris for the day to day overseeing of the site. Maintaining the padlocks and getting the materials to mend the potholes on the Platt
After last years success in the Wilder Tenterden Awards where the Town achieved the Gold Award we were asked to take part again this year in Tenterdens application. Our sincere thanks to Jill for her splendid reports and photos that she has submitted for us .
Finally would you all please note that next years plot fees need to be paid by BACS. If you pay by cheque or cash you will need to add 50p to the fee as I now have to pay that per cheque or cash to bank Also bear in mind that I have to go to Ashford to do this.
Finally I would like to thank you all for the way you are looking after your plots It is a wonderful green space in the middle of the built up area and one I certainly want to see remain.
