During 2025, RBC Community Care continued to host the Collier Row & Romford Foodbank at its distribution centres at Romford Baptist Church and The Ascencion Church Hall in Collier Row. A decision was taken to transfer the distribution centre held on a Wednesday at The Wykeham Centre at St Edward’s Church in the Market Place, Romford to Romford Baptist Church in October 2025.
The foodbank has continued to rely greatly on the donations of food and money from all donors and from those individuals that give to the large stores who provide us with their regularly food supplies. However, as continues to be experienced across most towns in the UK, the need for food outstrips the food which is donated. A very successful campaign was run at Harvest which saw an amazing 3,753.8 kg of food being donated. However, we have had to continue to purchase food on a weekly basis to make up the shortfall.
We have worked to give the users of the foodbank better experience at Romford Baptist Church especially around their dignity and signposting them to places and organisations where they can obtain support. We are continuing to find ways to roll out this good practice to the distribution centre that runs at Collier Row on a Friday.
During 2025, the following was seen at the foodbank:

5,218 emergency parcels of foods were given out. Compared to 2019, this was a 190% increase, compared to 56% average increase across the UK and 45% increase in foodbanks overseen by the Trussell Trust

1,797 referrals were made. In 2025, 33% of referrals were to single adults compared to 50% average across the UK and a 50% referral rate across foodbanks overseen by the Trussell Trust

945 households visited the foodbank. In 2025, 65% of households visited the Collier Row & Romford Foodbank just once compared to 54% of households across foodbanks overseen by the Trussell Trust.
We look forward to seeing what God has in store for the Foodbank in the year ahead.
