## **Chair’s Statement**

## **A Year of Unprecedented Efficiency**

In 2026, PlusPoint transitioned from a period of foundational growth into a high-impact, lean delivery model. Against a challenging UK economic backdrop, our team successfully doubled generated income to **£40,052** .

Most remarkably, we secured **62 sustainable employment placements** . A significant driver of this year's success was our strategic investment in Hosting Equipment. By establishing our own digital infrastructure, we have enhanced our capacity to deliver high-quality, remote-access training and hosting services for our beneficiaries. This investment ensures that PlusPoint remains at the forefront of digital employability, providing the tools necessary for our participants to thrive in a tech-driven job market.

Our financial position remains transparent and robust. As detailed in the **Statement of Cash Flows** , we have maintained the liquidity necessary to fund our 'impact-first' philosophy. By leveraging a high Social Return on Investment (SROI) **of £22.34 for every £1 spent** , we have demonstrated that innovation and proven delivery models can achieve significant societal shifts even with modest core funding.

I extend my deepest gratitude to our staff, volunteers, and partners. Your unwavering dedication has turned a year of economic uncertainty into a year of record-breaking achievement.

## **Difference Made to Society**

By reducing the number of local young people not in education, employment, or training (NEET), _we have contributed to a more resilient local economy and reduced the long-term social costs associated with youth unemployment._

## **Achievements and Performance (Impact Reporting - SORP 2026)**

## **Statutory Statement of Public Benefit**

In accordance with the **Charities Act 2011** requirements.

## **Statutory Compliance Declaration**

The Trustees have complied with their duty in **Section 17(5) of the Charities Act 2011** to have due regard to the public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission for England and Wales. This report outlines how our activities in 2026 have delivered on our charitable objectives for the public advantage.

## **Identifiable Benefits**

The relief of unemployment provides a clear benefit to the public:

- **Economic Impact:** By placing 62 individuals into sustainable employment, PlusPoint has reduced regional dependency on state welfare and increased local tax contributions.

- **Social Wellbeing:** Our mentoring programs provided 480 hours of support, which directly improved the social cohesion and mental resilience of our community.

- **Digital Access:** The acquisition of new **Hosting Equipment** ensures that vulnerable members of society are not "left behind" in the digital economy, providing them with essential access to IT infrastructure.

## **Access and Opportunity (The "Public" Element)**

PlusPoint ensures its benefits are accessible to the public without undue restriction:

- **No Financial Barriers** : All core employability services, including CV workshops and accredited IT training, are provided **free of charge** at the point of use.

- **Inclusion Policy** : Access is open to any individual registered as unemployed within our catchment areas. We also specifically target "hard-to-reach" groups, such as the over-50s and those with no prior digital experience, to ensure our benefits reach those who need them most.

- **Geographic Reach** : While based in our Hub, we offer hybrid mentoring to ensure those with mobility or transportation issues can still access our support.

## **Management of Private Benefit**

The Trustees have reviewed all operations to ensure that any private benefit arising is purely incidental to our charitable purpose.

- **Incidental Benefits** : Local employers benefit from a more skilled workforce, and our volunteer mentors gain professional experience; however, these are necessary by-products of achieving our primary aim of relieving unemployment.

- **Trustee Remuneration** : No Trustee or person connected with a Trustee received any remuneration or financial benefit from the charity during the 2026 period.

6

PlusPoint Report of Trustees and financial statements 31 January 2026

## **Environmental sustainability**

We are committed to the health and resilience for those seeking to make a difference around the world and in the UK. Our digital-first approach reduces the carbon footprint of job-seeking

## **Plans for Future Periods**

## **Strategic Direction for 2026/27**

Following the successful delivery of our programmes in the past year, the trustees have identified three strategic priorities for the upcoming period to further our mission of supporting young people and the unemployed:

1. **Expansion of Digital Inclusion:** Building on our 2025/26 pilot, we plan to launch a permanent "Digital Career Hub." (Supporting at least 50-80 young people through employability training programmes run by PlusPoint and our delivery partners) This will provide beneficiaries with access to high-spec hardware and advanced software training, ensuring they remain competitive in an increasingly tech-driven job market.

2. **Mental Health & Wellbeing Integration:** Recognising that personal barriers often hinder employment, we aim to integrate "Work-Readiness Wellness" sessions into our core (business and vocational jobs) curriculum. We are currently seeking partnership funding to bring in qualified mental health practitioners for these workshops.

3. **Local Employer Network:** We intend to formalise a "PlusPoint Employer Charter," signing up 15 local businesses to provide guaranteed interview schemes and work experience (Micro Enterprise programme and payroll, bookkeeping and related commercial job) placements for our graduates.

## **Funding and Sustainability**

To support these ambitions, the charity will diversify its income streams by launching a new corporate sponsorship package / applying for multi-year lottery funding. The trustees remain committed to maintaining a lean administrative structure to ensure that the maximum possible percentage of every pound raised goes directly to frontline support.

## **Future Outlook: Sustaining Impact in 2027**

While 2026 was a year of record efficiency, 2027 presents new challenges that PlusPoint is already prepared to meet:

- **Navigating Wage Floor Increases** : With the **National Living Wage** rising to **£12.71** in April 2026, our 2027 strategy focuses on upskilling beneficiaries for roles that sit above the new statutory minimum. This ensures the "sustainability" of our employment placements remains high despite rising employer costs.

- **Scaling the Efficiency Model** : Building on our **£7,200 saving in staff costs** , we are investing in digital automation for our referral and tracking systems. This will allow us to target a further **10%** increase **in placements** in 2027 without a corresponding rise in operational spend.

- ▪ **Welfare Reform Resilience:** As Universal Credit standard allowances increase by **6.2%** from April 2026, the fiscal "cost of unemployment" to the state rises. This makes our work even more valuable to the Treasury. In 2027, we aim to deepen our data-sharing with local authorities to further evidence the direct cash savings PlusPoint provides to the public purse.

- **Revenue Diversification:** To protect against the volatility of the grant landscape, we aim to increase our **generated income** by a further 20% in 2027, moving closer to a self-sustaining social enterprise model.

## **Our mission**

PlusPoint’s mission is to futureproof the talent pipeline for clerical, commerce, administrative and business entrepreneurship.

This means we promote the sector as a great place to work for the next generation, we attract talent into the sector, give young and disadvantaged people the skills to launch their career and help them secure sustainable work in the industry.

The directors of the company are also charity trustees for the purposes of charity law and under the company’s Articles are known as members of the Board of Trustees. The trustees bring a wide range of skills to the charity and, when considering inviting additional trustees to join the board, the trustees will consider those with a similar vision who can bring specialist skills and experience needed for future development.

Potential Trustees are provisionally considered by the Board before being ‘interviewed’ by two or more of the Trustees who will present a report to the subsequent meeting before the candidate is formally invited to join the Board.

As part of the recruitment process every trustee will be given a copy of the Charity Commission’s guidance ‘The Essential Trustee’ and sign a declaration affirming that they will act in accordance with the guidelines and are not disqualified from acting as a Trustee by reason of unspent conviction for fraud, bankruptcy or removal as a charity director.

Existing trustees are already familiar with the practical work of the charity and new trustees are encouraged to meet the existing trustees and key employees to familiarise themselves with the charity and the context in which it operates. New trustees will also be provided with relevant information relating to the charity.

## _Management and Strategy_

The Board of Trustees provides strategic direction, meeting four times per year. Day to day management is in the hands of a Chief Executive Officer and an executive group of the trustees, who meet approximately every six weeks between full meetings of the Trustees.

requirements. In addition, all staff complete unconscious bias training, while we also subscribe to the Disability Confidence scheme and give all staff access to an Employee Assistance programme.

Priorities for next quarter include developing an annual inclusivity calendar and holding awareness events, reviewing recruitment processes and job adverts, and analysing PlusPoint staff experiences and sense of belonging via an organisation-wide survey.

## **Financial Review and Reserves Policy**

## **Financial Review**

The Financial Review for the year ended 31 January 2026 reports a total income of £40,052, reflecting a 99% increase driven by successful trustees’ additional fundings and community donations. Expenditures were focused on charitable activities, generating an SROI of £22.34 per £1, with free reserves maintained at roughly 3 months of operating costs, or £10,000, to ensure financial continuity.

## **Financial Performance**

Total incoming resources for the year were **£40,052** (2025: £20,115), a 99% increase driven by successful multiyear trustee grants and individual donations. Total expenditure was **£27,107** (2025: £19,745), of which 75% was spent directly on charitable activities. This resulted in a net surplus of **£12,945** (2025: £370).

## **Balance Sheet Position**

As of 31 January 2026, net assets totalled **£24,853** (2025: £11,908). The charity maintains a liquid cash balance of **£4,707** (2025: £2,786). This improved liquidity provides a stable foundation for PlusPoint’s planned period of growth and recovery.

## **Fundraising Approach**

We manage all donations, appeals, and partnerships in-house to ensure maximum security and efficiency. All staff undergo regular data protection training. We have further strengthened our Ambassador network to over 10 volunteers who provide vital mentoring and industry expertise.

## **Risk Management**

The Board identifies the reliance on short-term grant funding as a primary risk. To mitigate this, we are diversifying income through service-level agreements and corporate partnerships.

## **Reserves Policy**

The Trustees aim to maintain free reserves (unrestricted funds not tied to fixed assets) equivalent to approximately three months of core operating costs (estimated at **£6,500** ). At the year-end, the charity held **£4,707** in cash reserves. While slightly below the target, the Trustees are satisfied with this progress and intend to reach the full target through increased service provision in 2027. The charity also maintains a bank overdraft facility, more than covered by asset values, to manage short-term cash flow if required.

## **Going Concern**

The Trustees have reviewed the 2027-2028 budget and an 18-month cash flow forecast. Given the improved financial position and strong activity pipeline, the Trustees confirm that PlusPoint has adequate resources to continue for at least 12 months from the date of approval. Consequently, the financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis.

## **Taxation**

The charity is recognised as such by HMRC for taxation purposes. As such, the charity is exempt from corporation tax on its charitable activities.

PlusPoint Report of Trustees and financial statements 31 January 2026

## **Notes to the financial statements**

## _**(forming part of the financial statements)**_ **Accounting policies**

## _**1.0 Charity information**_

PlusPoint is a charitable company limited by guarantee incorporated in England & Wales and a registered charity. The liability of members is limited to £10 each. The registered office and principal place of business is Suite A Wing, 197 Simms Road, Southwark, London, SE1 5LP.

## _**1.1 Basis of preparation and compliance with accounting standards**_

The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention except for assets which may be stated at revalued amounts.

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard (FRS 102) (Charities SORP (FRS102)), the Charities Act 2011, the Companies Act 2006 and UK Generally Accepted Practice as it applies from 1 January 2015.

The significant accounting policies applied in the preparation of these financial statements are set out below. These policies have been consistently applied to all years presented unless otherwise stated. The Charity constitutes a public benefit entity as defined by FRS 102

The financial statements are prepared in pound sterling which is the functional currency of the charity. Monetary amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest £.

## _**1.2 Going concern**_

The trustees consider that the company is a going concern and the accounts have been prepared on this basis. The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis. As well as generating fees, the charity is reliant on donations and fundraising to fund its activities. With unrestricted reserves at 31 January 2026 of £12,790 (2025 - £8,436) the Trustees are confident that sufficient funding will be in place to enable it to deliver its planned activities over the next twelve months, and have concluded that PLUSPOINT has adequate resources to continue.

## _**1.3 Incoming resources**_

Income consists principally of payment for services and is recognised when the charity has entitlement to the income, receipt is probable, and the amount can be measured reliably.

Donations are recognised when the charity has evidence of entitlement to the gift, receipt is probable, and the amount can be measured reliably. In the event that a donation is subject to conditions that require a level of performance before the charity is entitled to the funds, the income is deferred and not recognised until either those conditions are fully met, or the fulfilment of those conditions is wholly within the control of the charity, and it is probable that those conditions will be fulfilled in the reporting period.

## _Income recognition policies_

Items of income are recognised and included in the accounts when all of the following criteria are met:

- the charity has entitlement to the funds;

- any performance conditions attached to the items of income have been met or are fully within the control of the charity;

- there is sufficient certainty that receipt of the income is considered probable; and

- the amount can be measured reliably.

- Income is deferred when the charity receives resources before the period in which it is entitled to them. At 31 January 2026, deferred income of £5,333 represented funding received in advance for 2027 projects.

Where incoming resources have related expenditure (as with fundraising or contract income) the incoming resources and related expenditure are reported gross in the SoFA.

For legacies, entitlement is the earlier of the charitable company being notified of an impending distribution or the legacy being received.

_Grants from government and other agencies_ have been included as income from charitable activities where these amount to a contract for services, but as donations where the money is given in response to an appeal or with greater freedom of use.

17

PlusPoint Report of Trustees and financial statements 31 January 2026

## **Notes to the financial statements** _(continued)_ **Accounting polices (continued)**

## _**1.3 Incoming resources (Continued)**_

- _Donations and Legacies_ : Recognized upon receipt. The charity is _not currently registered_ for the HMRC Gift Aid scheme, and as such, all donation income is reported net of any potential tax relief.

- _Investment Income_ : Consists of bank interest recognized on an accruals basis.

- _Other Income_ : Includes small, voluntary contributions from beneficiaries towards incidental administrative costs (e.g., photocopying).

- _Deferred Income_ : Income is deferred as a liability when performance-related conditions must be met in a future period. Specifically, _£5,333_ has been deferred to 2027 as it relates to future performance obligations.

## _**1.4 Resources expended**_

Expenditure is recognised when a legal or constructive obligation has been entered into and is charged directly to charitable expenditure or governance costs.

Charitable expenditure comprises those costs incurred by the charity in the delivery of its activities and services for its beneficiaries.

Governance costs include those costs associated with meeting the constitutional and statutory requirements of the charity and include costs linked to the strategic management of the charity.

## _Expenditure and irrecoverable VAT_

Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to make a payment to a third party, it is probable that settlement will be required and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Irrecoverable VAT is charged as a cost against the activity for which the expenditure was incurred.

## _**1.5 Fund Accounting**_

## _Unrestricted_ Funds can be used for any of the charity’s purposes.

_Restricted Funds:_ Subject to specific conditions by donors or performance-related grants. Restricted Funds are credited with income which is conditional in its use for a specific purpose. In this respect the company acts as a custodian of these funds and consequently they are not available for general use.

_The Designated Fixed Asset Fund_ represents the net book value of the charity’s tangible and intangible fixed assets. These funds are not available for general charitable purposes as they are tied up in the infrastructure required for service delivery.

Income from donated assets and facilities is recognised in full upon entitlement and subsequently transferred to this designated fund. Annual depreciation and amortisation charges are then debited against this fund to reflect the consumption of these assets over their useful lives.

## _**1.6 Interest receivable**_

Interest on funds held on deposit is included when receivable and the amount can be measured reliably by the charity; this is normally upon notification of the interest paid or payable by the bank.

## _**1.7 Tangible fixed assets and depreciation**_

Tangible fixed assets are included at cost.

Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulated depreciation. Depreciation is provided to write off the cost of the assets over their estimated useful lives at the following rates:

- Hosting Equipment: 20% per annum, reducing balance

- Computer & Office Equipment: 20% per annum, reducing balance.

- Fixtures & Fittings: 20% per annum, reducing balance.

Items of equipment with a purchase price below £500 are written off to the Statement of Financial Activities in the year of acquisition.

The Trustees review the asset register annually for impairment.

## **Notes to the financial statements** _(continued)_ **Accounting polices (continued)**

## _**1.8 Stock**_

Stock held is valued at the lower of cost or net realisable value in the ordinary course of operations.

## _**1.9 Value Added Tax (VAT)**_

The charity is not registered for VAT and accordingly expenditure includes irrecoverable VAT where appropriate

## _**1.10 Debtors**_

Trade and other debtors are recognised at the settlement amount due after any discount offered. Prepayments are valued at the amount prepaid after taking account of any discounts due.

## _**1.11 Foreign currency**_

Transactions in foreign currencies are translated to the functional currency of the company at the foreign exchange rate ruling at the date of the transaction. Monetary assets and liabilities denominated in foreign currencies at the balance sheet date are retranslated to the functional currency at the foreign exchange rate ruling at that date. Foreign exchange differences arising on translation are recognised in the income statement.

## _**1.12 Cash at bank and in hand**_

Cash at bank and cash in hand includes cash and short term highly liquid investments with a short maturity of three months or less from the date of acquisition or opening of the deposit or similar account.

## _**1.13 Creditors**_

Creditors are recognised where the charity has a present obligation resulting from a past event that will probably result in the transfer of funds to a third party and the amount due to settle the obligation can be measured or estimated reliably. Creditors are normally recognised at their settlement amount after allowing for any trade discounts due.

## _**1.14 Independent Examination**_

- Due to income exceeding £40,000, an Independent Examination is required. As income is below £500,000, the examiner does not strictly require a specific professional qualification under the revised September 2026 thresholds.
