| Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts. |
Para 1.17 and 1.19 |
The charity will carry out its objects by providing advice and support to cat owners who find themselves in difficult times. This will include offering non-judgmental advice and guidance to help owners keep their cats in their homes wherever possible, as well as signposting them to alternative sources of support where necessary. This support will be available via the website, email and phone communication and social media websites. We handle up to 5 phone calls and emails, and up to 25 Facebook messages every week seeking our advice on such topics as:- • Rehoming – we signpost to rehoming charities • Out of area – we signpost to charities close to owners location • Stray cats - we loan cat traps and give advice on next steps |
| The charity will provide safe and loving foster environments as temporary shelter for cats of owners who find themselves in crisis, such as victims of domestic or financial abuse. The charity will work with these owners to ensure that their cats are well-cared for and supported during this difficult time, and will aim to reunite cats with their owners wherever possible. In our first year we supported over 80 cats, from 52 owners in crisis and were able to reunite 20 cats with their owners. Where necessary and sometimes without going through the foster process we will rehome cats, in 2024 we rehomed 66 cats in need. If the cat's owner has reached the maximum foster period or is unable to provide a home for their cat, the charity will offer to rehome the cat on their behalf. The charity will work to find suitable and loving homes for these cats, taking into account their individual needs and personalities, and the veterinary history of potential new owners. Once a fostered cat has been in our care for 6 months they will be assessed on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the owner and either the foster will be extended, or the cat rehomed after discussions with the owner. The aims of the charity will also work to decrease the number of cats finding themselves in need of rescue and rehabilitation. These include working with other voluntary sector animal rescue groups and individuals in their campaigns and intentions. The charity will assist cat owners in sourcing discounted neutering, microchipping, and veterinary care if they are eligible. This will include providing information and guidance on where to access these services and working with local veterinary practices to secure discounts and reduced rates for those in need. We work with local cat rescue centres, such as Little Paws and Cat Protection, whereby they will signpost to us when owners contact them for help and it is deemed that fostering would be a more beneficial solution, resulting in reduced rehoming. We signpost owners to Cats Protection and RSPCA voucher schemes, when available, for treatment of stay cats or neutering. We will also promote any offers from vet surgeries that would be beneficial to owners and cat welfare e.g. reduced price neutering of black cats Finally, once established the charity will create a cat food bank for low-income people to use. This will provide a vital source of support for those who are struggling to feed their cats, and will help to ensure that cats are able to stay with their owners and avoid being surrendered to shelters. This food will be stocked with donations from the public and via partnership links with pet food companies. We are still in the process of establishing the full maturity of the charity and have had to focus on a significant logistical move this year, however we can confirm this is still firmly in our pipeline. In the meantime, we provide food for cats returning to their owners after foster if needed, and if contacted and assessed to be appropriate we will provide veterinary prescribed food. |

Para 1.20 | Through various mediums we are providing help and advice to our local community on rehoming, alternative sources of help, stray cats and reduced cost treatment. We have helped owners keep their beloved cats when facing difficult circumstances, reducing rehoming and have responsibly rehomed to support the cats welfare where necessary Some of the owners we’ve helped, in their own words: “The team at Feline Fine Foundation were absolutely brilliant in helping find an urgent foster home for my boy. I was going through a very tough relationship breakdown and had to urgently move out of my home into temporary accommodation. They were calm, empathetic and so lovely, finding a nurturing and safe foster place within days – even arranging for my cat to be picked up. I was kept in contact frequently with videos and updates on how my boy was getting on. I can't thank them enough for their understanding. I've recently got my boy back and he is as happy as ever. Thank you for everything you do.” “I honestly can’t thank the Feline Fine Foundation enough. One of their amazing fosterers took my two cats in when I was in a difficult situation and made it so that I didn’t have to rehome my babies. They were there for me and my cats every step of the way and I can’t put into words how grateful I am and will always be to them! An amazing, invaluable charity that’s going to help so many people in need.” “I can’t put into words how grateful I am for your help in looking after our three cats as my son and I got away from domestic abuse. The updates and photos were so comforting and they were looked after so well. It's lovely to have our cats back and this helps my son and my mental health enormously. I don't know what I would have done without you. If I am in the position of offering foster care to cats, I will do that and contact you. You are a godsend, a lifeline and an inspiration. Thank you always.” |
