Structure, Governance and Management
The Slavica Malic Foundation is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). It is governed by a constitution dated 25 October 2023. Under clause 10 of the constitution, charity trustees are appointed for three-year terms by resolution of the Founder (while she remains a trustee) and thereafter by the remaining trustees.
The trustee board comprises a small number of experienced trustees. To the extent that training needs are identified, trustees receive the appropriate training.
Objectives and Activities of the Charity
The objectives of the charity are, for the public benefit:
-
1) The advancement of education of disadvantaged children and young people (in particular, but not limited to those who have been exposed to war, poverty or disaster)
-
2) The relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill health or disadvantage (in particular, but not limited to women and children who have suffered from or are exposed to domestic or sexual violence)
-
3) The promotion of the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment.
-
4) The promotion of such other purposes being exclusively charitable according to the law of England and Wales as the trustees may from time to time determine.
No income or expenditure was recorded during the period covered by this report.
The trustees confirm they have had due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit in exercising their duties since the inception of the Charity.
Financial Review
The charity did not receive any income during this period and currently holds no assets. Given this status, the charity held no reserves. The trustees will adopt an appropriate reserves policy upon receipt of income. The charity holds no funds in deficit.
The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charity is exposed, in particular those related to the operations and finances of the charity, and are satisfied that systems and procedures are in place to mitigate exposure to the major risks.
Plans for future periods
The trustees intend to identify projects which would further the charity’s objects. The nature and extent of the charity’s future operations will be dependent upon donations received.
The following draft policies have been prepared and will be adopted upon receipt of income:
