Structure, Governance and Management
Space Between CIO is governed by its trustees, who are responsible for directing the affairs of the charity and ensuring it is solvent, well-run, and delivering public benefit in accordance with its charitable objects.
Objectives and Activities
The charity was established to pursue its charitable objects as set out in its constitution. During the reporting period, the charity was unable to commence operations.
Achievements and Performance
No charitable activities were carried out during 2024. This was due to the terminal illness and subsequent death of the co-founder, which had a significant impact on the charity’s ability to begin operations.
Financial Review
The charity did not undertake any financial activity during the reporting period. There were no material assets, liabilities, or income, and the trustees confirm that the charity remained solvent.
Plans for Future Periods
Following a review of the charity’s circumstances, the trustees intend to wind down Space Between CIO. The trustees have determined that continuing to operate the organisation as a CIO is no longer proportionate, given the administrative and regulatory burden.
The trustees intend for the activities originally envisaged for the CIO to continue through the organisation’s Community Interest Company (CIC), ensuring continuity of mission and public benefit.
Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities
The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Annual Report and financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom accounting standards.
Trustees’ Resolution to Wind Down the CIO
The trustees resolved that:
- The charity has been unable to commence operations due to the terminal illness and subsequent death of the co-founder.

-
Having considered the ongoing administrative and regulatory obligations, the trustees believe it is no longer in the best interests of the charity to continue operating as a CIO.
-
The trustees therefore resolve to wind down Space Between CIO in an orderly manner, in accordance with its constitution and Charity Commission requirements.
-
The trustees note that the charitable activities originally envisaged will continue to be delivered through the organisation’s Community Interest Company (CIC).
This resolution was approved by the trustees after the end of the reporting period and is included for completeness and transparency.
Approval
This report was approved by the trustees and signed on their behalf.
