to put Spray back on the water at Glasson
Marina afer an extensive period of
maintenance at the end of July 2025
Repaintng the boat, engine servicing,
updatng electrics and other work needed
to get Spray ready to go back in the water
were completed in the frst half of 2025.
Major work included replacement of sof
plank in the bow area, costng £4126 over
two fnancial years and a new bowsprit,
costng £1600. We purchased safety
equipment so we can safely use her at sea.
Once the boat was in the water, The boat
needed to be rigged, the new bowsprit
fted and sails tested. Maintenance work
contnued for example replacing bateries
and installing safety equipment
We successfully motored Spray round the
basin at Glasson Dock,but ran out of tme| before the end of the season to take her out to sea. We achieved extensive media coverage in the year helping to publicise the Morecambe Bay Prawner heritage, including articles in the Lancaster Guardian, Cumbria Magazine and Lakeland Walker, Fishing News and Classic Boat Magazine and interviews on local radio. financial position at the end
of the period|Para 1.21|Income was £12,129 made up of £5740
donatons, £4000 grant from Morecambe
Town Council, £1684 gif aid and £710
membership fees. This compares to an
income of £13973 in 2023-24. We are
grateful for everyone who has donated to
the Trust over the year.
Expenditure was £14,820. The defcit was
made up by the surplus carried forward
from up in the previous year. Principal
costs were maintenance £3405, bow
planking repairs £2985, new bowsprit
£1600, marina fees £2854, insurance £1276
and the second purchase payment of
£2000.
At the end of the year, we had £692 in our
bank accounts
In the long-term running costs of Spray are
likely to be around £4000 a year. The aim
will be to meet these from membership
and sailing fees, with more major work
paid for by donatons, grants, fund raising

risks facing the charity|Para 1.46|a) Owning a historic boat, the Trust is
subject to the risk of unforeseen major
repair costs. We are aiming to mitgate this
risk by keeping the boat in conditon,
building up a reserve, inspectng the boat
on a regular basis, planning maintenance in
advance and carrying out repairs before we
have need to.
b) The Trust is at risk from members losing
interest in its actvites and no longer
supportng the Trust if plans are not seen
as moving forward. We mitgate against
this by involving members in the Trust’s
actvites and help them informed.
b) The Trust at risk of membership and
sailing fees being less than antcipated. For
example, sailing fees could be low due to
poor summer weather. We will aim to
mitgate this by monitoring income on a
regular basis, fund raising and by building
up a reserve
c) The Trust is subject to risks in sailing and
operatng a historic boat. We seek to
reduce risk from our actvites by holding
public liability and employer insurance
(that also covers volunteers), having
qualifed skippers and crew on board and
by having a safety management system
d)The Trust is subject to the risk of key
members moving on. We will mitgate the
risk of this by sharing the workload,
encouraging new volunteers to come
forward and develop their knowledge so
that there are people who can take over in
the future**.**
e)We antcipate that we may take out to
young people and vulnerable adults on
Spray in the future. We will reduce
safeguarding risks by having a policy in
place requiring a guardian or responsible
person to accompany young people or
