Alms & Purposes OriEinally set up In 2018 as a project of Blessed Sacrament RC Church, The Copenhagen Street Foodbank became a registered charity in October 2023 and continues to operate out of the attached church hall. We are dedicated to alleviating food poverty in Islington and the surrounding areas. We open our doors every Thursday afternoon to our clients without the need for referral. Entirely run by our staff of 50+ volunteers, our organSsation relies on donations of money and food. A5 well as providing food and toiletries. the Foodbank provides a wellbeing space l a warm space in the winter monthsl to enable clients to socialise with refreshments as well as $18nposting for essential services. Achievements and Performance On average the Foodbank provides for over 2¢xJ households per week, 70% of which are families. In 2025, we supported approximately 840 unique households representing nearly 3000 indlviduals over the course of the year. We distributed over 11,000 parce15 of provisions In the 12 month period. Additionally, the Foodbank regularly hosted representatives from multiple support agencles such as Islington Council Resident Services, Help on Your Doorstep and Manor Gardens to enable clients to access essential services and funding. The Foodbank is committed to assisting clients to obtain food security through these organisation5. Included in other expenses Is a food storage shed which was purchased at an overall cost of £3,275 and has already enabled savings to be made through bulk buying and improved stock control. The Trustees meet quarterly to make strategic decisions, review the management accounts and the organisations policies. Any decisions are minuted by the Chair of Trustees. Responsibility for day to day operations are delegated to the Operations Manager and most of the Trustees volunteer at the Foodbank itself. I would like to thank all those who have supported Copenhagen Street Foodbank by volunteering or financially throughout the period. The increasing use of the service demonstrates the the level of need in our community and without that support many people would suffer hardship.
