Public Benefit
In setting the objectives and planning activities of the charity, the Trustees have complied with the duty in section 4 of the Charities Act 2006 to have due regard for the Charities Commission’s general guidance on public benefit. The objectives and activities, achievements and performance below explain more.
Objects and activities
The charity is an education and training body with other charitable purposes. The charity makes grants to individuals and organisations, provides services, advocacy, advice and information and it sponsors and undertakes research. The charity operates throughout 60 countries.
During Trustees’ meetings discussions have focused on stakeholder engagement planning and mapping, identifying funding opportunities, defining the Foundation’s scope and pillars and identifying opportunities for individuals in the Foundation’s community. In addition, Trustees have made good progress in developing promising
long-term and strategic partnerships with global organisations and funding partners which will bear fruit during the next financial year.
The objects of the CIO are:
To advance the education for the public benefit in the subjects of agricultural journalism and communication for the purposes of improving agricultural development and the public understanding of food and agricultural systems, throughout the world by:
-
providing financial assistance, education, training, support and practical advice relating to agricultural journalism and communication;
-
initiating and supporting new agricultural information networks;
-
providing organisational and financial support for worldwide activities such as
-
conferences,
-
workshops, tours and seminars on agricultural topics that will educate journalists, communicators and media workers;
-
providing financial support for training new entrants to the profession; and
-
formulating support and best practice guidelines for reporting on farming and food security topics.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
For the period of this report – from registration on 17 October 2023 to end of the financial year, 31 December 2024, a grant of £1,000 has been received. No further income has been received, nor expenditure has been made. Obstacles have been encountered in setting up the Foundation’s bank account linked to the slow engagement of all 11 trustees to enable full update of the official trustees from the founding four trustees – Lena Johannson, Steve Weblow, Adrian Bell and Adalberto Rossi.
Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities

The Trustees are responsible for ensuring proper accounting records are kept which disclose, with reasonable accuracy at any time, the financial position of the Foundation and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Trust Deed and the disclosure regulations. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Fund and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of error, fraud and other irregularities.
