4. Achievements and Performance

During this first reporting period, the Community Chaplaincy Centre (Wednesfield) has focused on establishing its base and developing core activities. With the support of Wednesfield Community Church, we secured and renovated an office space, which was equipped with computers through donation from the Community Chaplaincy Association. This provides a modern and practical foundation for our work. We partnered with Birmingham Newman University to host a student placement of 200 hours in Supervised Reflective Practice. The student contributed to our third-age chaplaincy programme, while gaining valuable professional experience.

This collaboration reflects our aim to develop future chaplains and maintain strong links with academic institutions.

To strengthen operations, we appointed a Volunteer Project Coordinator to oversee the Centre’s activities and support the trustees in fulfilling the charity’s objectives.

Looking ahead, we are building partnerships with local organisations, creating signposting pathways, and recruiting volunteers to support our mission. The trustees remain committed to ensuring the Centre grows sustainably and continues to deliver chaplaincy and support to the community.

5. Financial Review

During the period, the charity received total income of £10,000 and incurred expenditure of £9,963.69, leaving a closing balance of £36.31. The trustees have managed the funds prudently, ensuring all resources were applied effectively to support the charity’s objectives. However, the charity’s low closing balance highlights that it is not financially stable and will require additional fundraising and income generation to sustain its activities. The trustees are actively exploring opportunities to secure further funding and strengthen financial resilience to ensure the continued delivery of the charity’s services.

6. Reserves Policy

The trustees aim to hold sufficient reserves to cover at least three months of essential operating costs.
