## **JHELUM OVERSEAS FOUNDATION**

## **REPORT**

## _**FOR THE PERIOD ENDED 31 MARCH 2025**_

The present their annual report and financial statements for the period ended 31 March 2025.

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in note 1 to the financial statements and comply with the 's governing document, the Charities Act 2011, FRS 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" and the Charities SORP "Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)".

## **Objectives and activities**

The main objective of the charity is to support the charitable work of DHQ Jhelum hospital in Jhelum Punjab Pakistan by provision of equipment or facilities and for the provision of facilities for the accommodation and support of patients and their families which would be available from normal statutory sources.

## **Public benefit**

In shaping our objectives for the year and planning our activities, the trustees have considered the Charity Commissions guidance on public benefit, in particular, the trustees consider how specific projects will contribute to their objectives.

## **Achievements and performance**

## **Charitable Activities**

The Jhelum overseas foundation focuses on raising funds for the development of a hospital of DHQ Jhelum Hospital in Jhelum Punjab Pakistan.

Two significant fundraising events took place during the financial period, both of which were well-attended and continue to be held on a regular basis.

## 1. Birmingham Event (Crystal Plaza)

- The venue was generously provided free of charge by the owner as a charitable contribution.

- Shamim arranged for a caterer to donate food, while also personally purchasing drinks and napkins.

- A friend of Aziz volunteered to host the event and provided the sound system.

## 2. Burton-on-Trent Event (Branston Golf Club)

- Parvez secured the Pavilion Banqueting Suite at a discounted rate through a personal contact.

- This event used the same caterer, host, and sound system as the Birmingham event.

Although the funds raised were below expectations, both events were considered a success due to the strong community turnout.

We are now planning our next event, which will support the extension project for Jhelum DHQ Hospital.

## **Financial review**

The statement of financial activities summarises the income and sources and main areas of expenditure.

The trustees aim is to keep costs to a minimum and raise maximum funds to achieve the charity objectives.

## _Reserves policy_

It is the policy of the charity that unrestricted funds which have not been designated for a specific use should be maintained at a level equivalent to three month’s expenditure. The trustees consider that reserves at this level will ensure that, in the event of a significant drop in funding, they will be able to continue the charity’s current activities while consideration is given to ways in which additional funds may be raised. This level of reserves has not been maintained throughout the year, but is something the trustees are now focusing on.
