## **CROSS O’TH’HANDS INDEPENDENT CHAPEL**

**Intake Lane, Belper, DE56 2LT**

**(Charity number: 1205117).**

## **TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT 2023/2024**

## **1 Introduction:**

- 1.1 There is a requirement for the Trustees to present an annual report to the Annual Meeting.

- 1.2 As the confirmation of approval as a registered charity was not received till October 2023, this year’s report refers up to August 31[st] 2024, and so is a part-year report.

- **2 Discussion:**

- 2.1 The chapel is affiliated to the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC).

- 2.2 As required the Church Handbook and Constitution have been approved and are readily available.

- 2.3 The membership of the chapel consists of seven members and 4 associate members.

- 2.4 The trustees have formally met in this part- year on two occasions, (25.3.24 & 1.7.24).

- 2.5 The approval of policy and management of the chapel business is also undertaken at Chapel business meetings, of which two have been held during the year, (4.10.23 & 12.3.24).

- 2.6 The chapel’s charitable purposes have been fulfilled through the organisation of weekly public worship and study, inviting the local community to seasonal and social events, and co-working with other chapels within the Fellowship of Evangelical Churches (FIEC).

- 2.7 The chapel has been able to meet its aims in supporting other Christian charities. Six are supported both by donations and the organising of support meetings. These six have charitable purposes in keeping with ours. The six are Barnabus Aid (1092935), London City Mission (247186), Ministry Aviation Fellowship (1064598), Open Air Mission (215409), Soldiers’ and Airmans’ Scripture Readers Association (235708), and SportsReach (1065723).

- 2.8 The chapel has continued to support the Ashbourne Churches Together foodbank by donations in kind.

- 2.9 The financial practices adopted are in accordance with those required of a registered charity

- 2.10 There is an annually agreed Safeguarding procedure.

- 2.11 The trustees wish to record their appreciation of the support and encouragement of the congregation.

## **3 Recommendation**

3.1. The annual meeting is invited to receive this report.

## **Trustees**
