Keswlck Area Food Share
AGM
Septsmber 2025
Welcome to the Keswick Area Food Share AGM 2025.
We have had a busy 12 months since our first AGM, and looking back at
the figures, we are busier than ever.
In our first 12 months, we provided 873 bags of food to residents in the
CA12 area.
In the 12 months from September 2024, to the first two weeks of
September 2025, we have provided 1471 bags of food to our customers.
We have bags for families, single people, couples and a small number of
homeless people.
Bags include breakfast, lunch and dinner for a few days, and some
snacks, made up of tinned and packet goods. Addrtionally, we provide
separate bag of fresh fruit and vegetables. Some of these we buy in, but
a lot of fresh goods are donated by local residents, who have a surfeit of
produce. In the last few weeks, we have had eating apples, baking
apples (the lovely Keswick Codlins) French beans, Victoria plums,
cucumbers, and pears donated.
Addits"onally, each week we receive three boxes of fresh produce from
the Living Well Project in Egremont, totally free of cosL The Project
helps local residents with mental health needs, and other local people

who volunteer in their market garden, growing fresh vegetables to
distribute to communty food projects in West Cumbria.
The variety of produce they provide has enabled our customers to try
many new varieties, such as rainbow thard, kale, heritage tomatoes,
fennel and squash
We also provide pet food, toil6tri8s, and a small number of deaning
products on demand.
We are well supported by local businesses, both in donations of money
and goods.
Keswick Rotary and Keswick Lions have been stalwart friends since our
inception, and continue to support us, week in, week out.
Local residents often pop in to the share with donations both financial
and practical.
We also have our donation trolleys at Booths and the Co op, and
donation boxes in the Library, local businesses and Threlkeld Coffee
Shop. The trolley8 in particular have been well Supported, although we
have noticed a reduction in donation8 over the last few months, which
perhaps indicate8 the difficulties many people are facing with the
constantly increasing prices of food.
We are entirely run by volunteers, and our volunteers remain the
absolute backbone of this project. Their hard work, the . extra mile.
approach, their open and welcoming attitude have been the major part of
our ongoing and growing success.
We are very gratefvl for the ongoing support of Cumberland Council,
from whom we lease the premises rerrt free, and particularly the Library
Service and the very supportive staff at Ke8wick Library, who have made
this journey with us, and made it so much easier.
For the future, we would benefft from being abl8 to access our premises
outside of Library opening hours, for deliveries, packing, and possibly
additional opening hours. We are in negotiation with Cumberland
Council at the preserrt time, to invests.gate whether this will be possible.
