Activities

Southall Black Sisters provides a holistic specialist support service in relation to all forms of domestic abuse, sexual abuse and honour-based abuse including forced marriage, FGM and other harmful practices. We combine crisis intervention work with long-term advocacy, policy and campaigning work that stems directly from our front-line experience.

Objects: The Charity’s Objects Are Restricted Specifically For The Public Benefit To Relieve The Needs Of Women, Particularly Those Of Black And Minority Ethnic Origin (including Asian, African And Caribbean Origin) And Their Children And Families, Residing Primarily In London, Who Are In Conditions Of Need, Hardship, Danger Or Distress; To Advance Their Human Rights (as Set Out In The Universal Declaration Of Human Rights And Subsequent United Nations Conventions And Declarations); To Preserve And Protect The Health Of Such Persons; And To Advance The Education Of The General Public Including (but Not Limited To) By: (a) Providing Advice, Assistance, Support And Information On Matters Relating To The Legal, Economic, Social And Health Needs Of Such Persons; (b) Providing Such Persons With Such Advice, Assistance And Services Which They Would Not Otherwise Obtain Through Lack Of Means;(c) Promoting Equal Opportunities For Such Persons By Endeavouring To Eliminate Race, Gender And Other Forms Of Discrimination;(d) Seeking To Prevent Violence Against Women And Girls And Protect Those Rights Which Are Adversely Impacted By Violence Against Women And Girls; And (e) Seeking To Educate The Public In Subjects Relating To Economic, Cultural And Religious Conditions, Mental, Physical, Sexual And Emotional Health Of Women, Particularly Those Of Black And Minority Ethnic Origin, And Matters Relating To Equality Of Opportunity Between Women And Men.
