2. Structure, Governance and Management

4 THE 1 is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) established with a Foundation Constitution. The trustees are also the sole members. Trustees are recruited and appointed in accordance with the governing document and Charity Commission guidance. Policies in place include safeguarding, safer recruitment, complaints, confidentiality, financial controls, anti-fraud, anti-money laundering, anti-terrorism, and modern slavery.

3. Objectives and Activities

The charity’s objects are to provide relief to those in need due to poverty and ill health within the Azad Kashmir area of Pakistan through:

Emergency and disaster relief in conditions such as floods, earthquakes, landslides, droughts, heatwaves, winter support Food distribution (rations and uncooked food)
To advance health by providing access to high quality cataract treatment for people in the Azad Kashmir area of Pakistan who may not otherwise receive adequate medical care.

4. Achievements and Performance

During the reporting period, the charity successfully raised £7,320 in donations. These funds were fully distributed to beneficiaries in accordance with the charity’s purposes, providing emergency relief and support to vulnerable communities in Azad Kashmir. This represents the first operational year for the CIO, with strong foundations established for future growth.

5. Financial Review

Income for the year totalled £7,320, all of which was unrestricted donations. Expenditure also totalled £7,320, all spent directly on charitable activities. The net movement in funds for the year was therefore nil, with no reserves carried forward at the year end. The trustees have adopted a reserves policy and will review the appropriate level of reserves as the charity grows.

6. Plans for Future Periods

The charity intends to continue to expand its activities in line with its objects, including:

Supporting emergency relief projects in Azad Kashmir Providing food rations and other essential aid to families in poverty
Delivering cataract surgeries through qualified ophthalmologists registered with the Pakistan Medical Committee
Running health and hygiene workshops to promote wellbeing
The trustees are committed to strengthening partnerships and developing sustainable funding sources to achieve long-term impact.

7. Public Benefit Statement

The trustees confirm that they have complied with their duty under section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s public benefit guidance. The activities undertaken directly further the charity’s aims and provide clear public benefit by relieving poverty, improving health, and supporting vulnerable individuals in Azad Kashmir.
