4. **Governing Document:** The Charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation governed by its written constitution dated 18[th] September 2023. 

## 5. **Objectives and activities:** 

- a. The Charity runs a museum to which the public has free admission during opening hours. The Charity acquires, restores and preserves such maritime and other items as may be considered of local historical interest. 

- b. The Charity works with other groups in the community to prepare exhibitions on subjects of local interest – usually 4 in the course of the open season.    Members of these groups are encouraged to visit the Museum, often for the first time, creating a symbiotic relationship between the Museum and the community it serves.

   - c. The Charity arranges talks which are open to the public on matters of interest. 

   - d. The Charity publishes and circulates to its members an Annual Bulletin and a Newsletter twice a year. 

   - e. The Charity arranges local guided walks. 

   - f. The Charity trustees have complied with the duty in section 4 of the 2006 Act to have due regard to guidance on public benefit published by the Commission. 

6. **Achievements and performance:** The Museum, which is entirely staffed by volunteers was open during the period covered by the Report on 72 days during which it was visited by 3,193 members of the public. Talks and walks were arranged and the Annual Bulletin and a Newsletter published. 

The Museum is accredited by the Arts Council.    This accreditation was last reviewed in 2018 and is scheduled to be reviewed in the coming year. 

7. **Financial Review:** The Charity keeps a reserve held in an interest earning account with CCLA which is expected to be sufficient to meet any unusual expenses. The amount currently held in this account is £26,065. 

8. **F unds held as custodian trustee on behalf of others:** The Charity does not hold any such funds. 

9. **Fundraising:** Funds for the Museum’s continued operation are 

raised in the following ways: 

- a. Membership subscriptions* 

- b. Sale of cards and booklets in the Museum 

- c. In Museum donations* 

- d. Special one-off donations* 

- e. Legacies 

- f. The winter series of lectures 

- g. The summer walks 

- h. Items marked * are eligible for gift aid. 

So far, the Charity has not conducted any fundraising campaigns targeted at the general public.

The chanty's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts.
The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under
section 144 of the Chanties Act 2011 (the Charities Act} and that an
independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to=
Examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act.
To follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by
the Charity Commission {under section 145{5)(bl of the Charities Act)
and
To stste whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions
examinerfs statement given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the
accounting records kept by the chanty and a comparison of the accounts
presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual
rtems or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the
trustees conceming SLSch matters. The procedures undertaken do nol provide
all the evidence that would be required in an audit. and consequently no
opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair, view and
the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

In connection with my examination, no material matters have come to my
statement attention
which gives me Gause to believe

Accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of
the Charities Act or
The accounts do not record with the accounting records
I have come across no matters in conneGtion with the examination to which
attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the
accounts to be reached.
