ACTIVITIES AND OBJECTIVES IN THE YEAR

In line with our objectives a number of projects and activities were carried out in the year.

Caendon ran an Agroforestry project Funded by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA). About £10000 was donated by the WCVA that was used to plant trees in about four communities in Ghana as well as to set up tree nurseries. Funds also went to

support coffee farmers with seedlings, training and other inputs. The impact of this project included poverty alleviation in four communtities and providing the environmental benefit of climate change mitigation through Carbon sequestration by trees.

On World environment day a sponsored walk was organized. This event raised funds for environmental protection and was matched by the Bilfinger Charity Committee. Out of these funds support was given to a youth marine conservation club in Diani Kenya to support their activities. Part of funds raised also supported a project to provide fencing to prevent Elephants from encroaching from farms leading to Wildlife-human conflict.

Menstrual poverty is a serious problem in Kenya. CAENDON funded the provision of menstrual pads for Schoolgirls in the Masimbani School in Kenya.

CAENDON aims to promote sustainability in the local communities that it operates from. In line with this the charity organized a Fairtrade Fair which raised awareness in the community in Llandudno on the importance of Fairtrade and encouraged people to patronize Fairtrade products because of their contribution to sustainability and poverty alleviation. This fair was supported by funding from Fairtrade Wales and Gwynt y Môr Community Fund.

Attendees at our end of year party were briefed on the public benefits to be derived by our fundraising activities which was to raise funds to support deprived school children in Africa.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY

In this reporting year, CAENDON had an income of £16,884 and had an expenditure of £15,014. £1,092 was carried forward from the previous year. Accumulated Cash funds of £2,961 were realized at the end of the year.

The charily is very grateful for grants recieved from the Wales Council for Voluntary Action(WCVA), Gwynt y Môr Community Fund, Fairtrade Wales and the Bilfinger UK Charity committee. We are also grateful for various fundraising and other activities by trustees, volunteers and other supporters through events such as the Christmas party and sponsored walk. We remain grateful for various donations received from individuals who supported CAENDON in cash and in kind.

We look forward to another year where we can have more impact in areas of need.
