THE BELFORD MUSEUM

ANNUAL REPORT

PERIOD FROM 19[TH] SEPT 2023 TO 31[ST] MARCH 2024

Charity No.1204788

11 Market Place, Belford, Northumberland NE70 7NE

Trustees: Karon Lynda Ives; Martin John McMahon; Christopher John Ormerod.

AIM: The aim of the Museum is to preserve and highlight the history of Belford and the surrounding area, giving a greater knowledge and understanding of Belford’s past to residents and visitors alike.

TRUSTEES: At present we maintain a team of three Trustees:- a Chair/Secretary (KI), a Treasurer (CO) and a further management Trustee, (MM). We have been attempting to widen this team by various means with little success so far. We also have a number of helpers who undertake specific tasks. (Such as digitalising documents.)

ACTIVITIES: The first year has been successful. We have had donated a number of local artefacts which would otherwise have been destroyed. These have been catalogued and preserved and are now available for scrutiny by locals or visitors to the Museum.

We were able to repair and reclaim the front room which has enabled us to update and modernise our facilities and expand our exhibits. This has been very well received with much favourable comment from those visiting the expanded facilities.

Funding is still chiefly by donations from visitors and effort is being made to expand our fund raising, by raffles, open evenings, sponsorships and fund raising and publicity at the local village market.

APPROVED BY THE TRUSTEES 11[TH] NOVEMBER 2024.

Signed. K Ives Chair.
