We**
**undertake 3 open meet galas each year to**
**generate much needed revenue. These**
**galas benefit young people from a variety**
**of clubs from primarily the North of**
**England to compete in a friendly**
**environment. Some swimmers attain**
**County, Regional and National qualifying**
**times and some become volunteers and**
**officials themselves in later years.**|

|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|**Training sessions are attended by all our**
**swimmers each week. Some of these**
**sessions are held in the very early**
**morning from 5am. We hold 3 open meet**
**galas, Spring, Summer and Winter which**
**attracts a large number of swimmers**
**from primarily the North of England. The**
**three programmes of the meets are all**
**different and offer the chance to qualify**
**for County, Region and National**
**championships. Each meet is over-**
**subscribed and we our aim is to make**
**each one memorable with music, fun as**
**well as a very good swimming**
**competition. Our meets are held over a**
**number of days and as such our visiting**
**teams book overnight stays with local**
**hotels, air B & B’s and Caravan Parks,**
**aiding to the success of the local**
**economy. Our Officials come from the**
**clubs competing and our fully qualified**
**Referees are very well looked after, with**
**meals and expenses thus ensuring their**
**continued support for future years. The**
**galas help with our goal to make**
**swimming in our area as cost effective as**
**we can for all our members. We have**
**been able to keep our Membership and**
**Training costs as low as we can to help**
**our families budget and let our young**
**people benefit from a team environment**
**where everyone matters.**
**We have been able to purchase computer**
**equipment to help our volunteers with the**
**admin side of our club and training aides**
**to help our coaches and swimmers. The**
**most notable have been the headsets our**
**swimmers wear when training so the**
**Coach can communicate and help stroke**
**development.**
**We have also had a fairly successful**
**social side of our club, although with**
**swimming meets or team galas most**
**weekends they are tough to organise.**
**Indoor ten pin bowling, summer barbecue**
**and Winter parties have been held and**|

**very well attended. We have received donations of £1500 from local Government funds to assist with our Winter Open Meet costs and also a £500 donation from a local business as payment towards our junior headsets as well as gifts in kind to help with making our club successful.**
