The trustees present their report and the financial statements for the year ended 31 August 2025.
Objectives and Activities
Aims and Objectives
The charity was established for the public benefit, to promote and advance education of the public in the art, science, and
history of the musical arts in particular bul not exclusively by the presentation of concerts and recordings, commissioning
new works, providing education projects for people of all ages.
Strategies for achieving objectivos
The charity achieves its objectives principally by performing concerts, making recordings, delivering educational
workshops and programmes for students, amateurs and emerging professionals, and commissioning new works. The
activity of the charity is primarily UK focused, bul The Gesualdo Six have a worldwide audience.
The Trustees are committed to the performance and recording of new music and champion the work of Ljpcoming
composers, performing it all over the UK and abroad, often bringing it lo new audiences for the first time.
The Trustees are committed to supporting the professional development of both The Gesualdo Six, and other emerging
ensembles.
Slgnlficant Actlvltles
Cathedral Slnging Days
In January 2025, The Gesualdo Six visited Lichfield Cathedral lo lead their first Cathedral Singing Day. Developed in
partnership with the Cathedral's Music Department, this initiative builds on the ensemble's established educational work
and was designed to support young singers aged 13-19 in developing confi'dence, musical skills, and a sense of
belonging within the wider choral community.
Participants worked closely with members of the ensemble through a series of warm-ups, small-group workshops, and
rehearsal sessions, focusing on vocal technique, expression, and ensemble musicianship. Repertoire was selected to
complement the acoustic and heritage of the venue, and the day concluded with an informal performance for friends and
family.
Feedback from participants and staff was highly positive. Richard Shakeshaft, Singing Programme Manager, commented..
The impact on the young people of working with G6 has been unmistakable. Students described the days as'an
amazing, inclusive experience working with amazing musicians.. Staff and visitors commented on the confiden￿, focus
and enthusiasm they saw throughout the sessions.
Following the success of this initial event, a Second Cathedral Singing Day was scheduled for September 2025.
The Charity intends lo expand this initiative beyond Lichfield Cathedral, with a broader national reach. Reflecting this
ambition, the project has been renamed Choral Singing Days to enable delivery in a wider range of venues. The Charity
anticipates that the appointment of an Education & Learning Coordinator will support the development of this programme,
with the aim of delivering up to four workshops annually.
Educational & Singing Workshops
Throughout the year, The Gesualdo Six delivered a range of eduealional workshops with choirs and community
ensembles across the UK. These included..

Significant Activities continued
A workshop with local singers in Silverdale (Lancashirel as part of Silverdale Renaissance. The ensemble worked with
47 individuals, and repertoire included music by Tomas Luis de Victoria, Vwlliam Cornysh, Odando Gibbons, & Thomas
Tallis
A workshop with established choir, the St Mary's Singers in Truro Icornwalll in March 2025.
In March 2025, a session with The Portsmouth Grammar School Chamber Choir working on their current repertoire,
followed by a session with the Gap Year Choral Scholars at Portsmouth Cathedral.
An afternoon of workshops followed by a ¢on¢ert with Cranmore School as part of their Cranmore Live Initiative in May
2025.
Also in May 2025, a joint rehearsal and evensong with the choirs at St John's College Cambridge.
In July 2025, an afternoon workshop at the Helena Romanes School as part of Thaxted Festival. The School choirs at
the school were a very new initiative, and G6 worked with their larger choir13040 students) and the selective Chamber
choir.
These activities reflect the Charity's eommitment to engaging singers al different stages of musical development, from
school ensembles to established amateur choirs.
Commlsslons
The charity supported the commissioning of a new work for The Gesualdo Six's programme Faire is the Rose with viol
consort, Chelys. This project explores the works of Orlando Gibbons. The newly commissioned work was "Nothing Gold
Can Slay, by Irish composer Aine Mallon.
This composition was premiered on 14 July 2025 at Cheltenham Music Festival, performed by The Gesualdo Six and
Chelys. The programme also featured music by Gibbons and Owain Park.
The charity supported a second commission for The Gesualdo Six's collaborative programme with cellist Josephine
Knight, this time from composer Rebecca Farthing, tilled The Horse enters Troy. This is lo be premiered al Sl Martin-in-
the-Fields on 20 November 2025.
Charity Launch Event
The Charity held its official launch event on 16 October 2024 al St Peter's Church, Ealon Square. Allendees included
Trustees, current and former supporters, and representatives from across the music and charitable sectors. Trustees
were also encouraged lo invite prospective donors.
The event featured a performance by The Gesualdo Six alongside speeches from the Director and Trustees. It provided
an important plafform to communicate the Charity's mission and future plans, and has helped to inform the development
of its fundraising strategy, which will be a key focus for 2025-2026 and beyond.
Public Benefit
The trustees confirm that they have complied with the requirements of Section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due
regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit.
Financial Review
Financial Position
The charity's state of affairs is as sel on page S. The charity showed a net increase in funds of £2,917. The funds held will
be used to continue the charity into the future.

Bank Accounts
As noted in the previous annual report, al a Trustee meeting held on 5 July 2024, il was agreed that dual authorisalion
would be required for all transactions involving the Charity's bank accounts, in order to strengthen financial controls.
To support this, the Trustees approved the opening of a new account with CAF Bank, which was successfully estsblished
in September 2024.
An initial lest transfer belween accounts was carried out by the Trustees and administrative team to confirm operational
processes. Following this, the majority of funds held in the Charity's account with Metro Bank were transferred lo the CAF
account. These transfèrs bebNeen the Metro Bank and CAF accounts have been indicated on the Accounts Summary and
represent internal movements and do not affect net income.
The CAF account now opeffttes as the Charity's primary bank aceounl, with the Metro Bank account retained as a
secondary and contingency account.
Restrlcted Funds
Renalssance Muslc Weekend
Restricted funds carried forward from the 2023-2024 financial year relate lo the Renaissance Music Weekend. Income for
this project was received in 2023-2024 through participant fees, with the associated expenditure incurred in 2024-2025.
Expenditure relating lo these restricted funds is detailed in the financial statements and includes venue hire costs and
workshop fees payable lo The Gesualdo Six.
Emerging Ensembles
One donation was re￿iVed in the financial year 2024- 2025, Specifical￿ for the purposes of the Emerging Ensembles
Scheme.
Friends Concert
One donation was received in the financial year 2024-2025, specifically to support the Friends Concert scheduled for
September 2025.

Constitution
The charity is registered as a CIO, governed by ils constitution. The charity received ils charitable status on 19
September 2023. The charity is constituted under its memomndum and articles and is a registered charity, number
1204778.

Trustee Selection Methods
Methods of appointment or election of Trustees
In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity Iruslees must have regard to the skills, knowledge
and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO. The charity Iruslees musl also consult with the
Executive Board before offering any candidate a Irusleeship.
The Trustees of The Gesualdo Six Charity met regularly throughout the 2024-2025 financial year. These meetings
included strategic planning sessions with the Director and members of The Gesualdo Six, focusing on shaping the
Charity's long-term vision and ensuring alignment be￿eell Ils artistic and charitable objectives. These discussions have
been constructive and have established a strong foundation for future development.
Organisational structure and deeisionwmaking policies
The Trustees meet periodically la minimum of once a quarterl lo discuss the matters affecting the charity and to review
the financial position of the charity. In addition, the Trustees liaise with the Executive Board (comprising the Director of
The Gesualdo Six and the Adminislratorl about any specific points that they may be interested in. No decision shall be
taken at a meeting unless a quorum is present.
Trustees
During the financial year, John Willan resigned as Chair of the Board of Trustees. The remaining Trustees wish to record
their sincere thanks for his valuable contribution lo the Charity. Following his resignation, Alice Penney assumed the role
of Acting Chair. A recruitment process for a new Chair was initiated in summer 2025, with interviews held in early July.
This process did not result in an appointment, bul the search remained ongoing, and Greg Walson was appointed as
Chair in November 2025.
In April 2024, following the resignation of Gilly Summers, the Board undertook a formal recruitment process lo fill the
vacancy. A skills audit was conducted lo assess the Board's composition and identify areas for development. The role
was publicly advertised, resulting in the appointment of Joel Newsome-Hubbard in September 2024 and Elizabeth
Holsgrove in November 2024.
Education & Learning Co-ordinator
In May 2025, the Director proposed the creation of a part-time Education & Learning co-ordinator role lo support the
development and delivery of the Charity's educational programmes. The position was designed as a on&day-per-week
role, focusing on key initiatives Including the Emerging Ensembles Scheme, Renaissance Music Weekend, Choral
Singing Days, and a range of ad hoc educational workshops and projects.
Following a suwessful recruitment process in July 2025, Talia Lieberman was apF)ointed to the role and is due to start in
September 2025.
In addition, a Content & Engagement co-ordinator role was created, with Phoebe Halpern appointed to the position. While
this role is not financially supported by the Charity, ils activities are expected lo contribute positively to the Charity's
engagement and outreach, and are therefore noted here for completeness.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of The Gesualdo Six Ilhe Trust) for the year ended 31 August
2025.
Responsibilities and Basis of Report
As the charity trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordan￿ with the
requirements of the Charities Act 2011 1"Ihe Act").
I report in respe¢l of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 A¢1 and in
carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section
14515llbl of the Act.
Independent Examiner's Statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the
examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect..
accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act,. or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records,. or
3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and contents of accounts set
out In the Charities (Accounts and Reportsl Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give
a 'lrue and fair view. which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

1. General Information
The Gesualdo Six is a charitable incorporated organisation registered with the Charity Commission, registered charity
number 1204778 . The principal address is Flat 1, 80 Colney Hatch Lane, London, N10 1 EA.
2. Accounting Policies
2.1. Basis of Preparation of Financial Statements
The financial statements have been prepared in accordan￿ with the Charities SORP IFRS 1021 "Accounting and
Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in
accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021
leffeclive 1 January 20191" Financial Reporting Standard 102 The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the
UK and Republic of Ireland" and the Charities Act 2011.
The eharity is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102.
2.2. Fund Aeeounting
Unreslricled funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discreb'on of the trustees.
Designated funds comprise unrestricted funds that have been set aside by the trustees for a specific purpose.
Restricted funds are to be used for specific purposes as laid down by the donor.
2.3. Incomlng Resources
All incoming resources are included in the statement of financial activities when entitlement has passed lo the
charity, it is probable that the economic benefi'ts associated with the transaction will flow lo the charity and the
amount can be reliably measured. The following specific policies are applied lo particular categories of income..
2.4. Cash and Cash Equlvalents
Cash and cash equivalents are basic financial assets and include cash in hand and deposits held al call with
banks, other short-term highly liquid investments that mature in no more than three months from the dale of
acquisition and are readily convertible lo a known amount of cash with insignificant risk of change in value, and
bank overdrafts.

Expenditure is recognised on an accrual basis as a liability is incurred. Expenditure includes any VAT which cannot be
fully recovered, and is reported as part of the expenditure to which il relates.
Costs of generating funds comprise the costs associated with attracting voluntary income from fundraising events.
Charitable expenditure comprises those costs incurred by the charity In the delivery of ils activities and services for its
beneficiaries. It Includes both costs that can be allocated direcdy to such activities and those costs of an indirect nature
necessary to support them. Indirect costs are allocated on a usage basis.
Governance costs compromise of those costs associated with meeting the constitutional and statutory requirements of
the charity.
Al costs are allocated between the expenditure categories of the SOFA on a basis designed lo reflect the use of the
resource. Costs relating to a particular activity are allocated directly.
