Organisational Aims and Objectives:
The aims and objectives of the charity are to deliver services to women and children in the Dover District wo have experienced adversity and trauma, which continues to impact on their day to day lives and relationships. The intention of the charity is to deliver a therapeutic service and interventions to inform and develop resilience, empowering women and their children to make choices that will have improved outcomes: Our constitution states that our organisational aims and objectives are to: preserve and protect the health and to relieve the mental sickness of women and children residing permanently or temporarily in Dover, Kent and such other parts of the United Kingdom by the provision of therapeutic services and such other financial or practical support as required and decided by the Charity Trustees.
The charity is a Christian organisation, and we consider a holistic approach in the service(s) delivered to promote growth in mind, body and spirit. Whilst women and children are not obligated to acknowledge the Christian element of the service, our aim is to advance the Christian faith, in particular but without limitation, by providing pastoral support to vulnerable groups and communities so that the love of Christ is shared by word and practical means.
Currently, Elyon Therapeutic Family Services CIO consists of the founding member and a team of 4 trustees, with the flexible access to advice and guidance from 1-2 Therapists.
How do our activities deliver public benefit:
In June 2024, Elyon delivered a Women’s Wellbeing Workshop. The aim of the workshop was to provide a safe space to welcome women, to connect with one another and to engage in activities that will have a positive impact on emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing.
The course was facilitated by a registered occupational therapist and included developing skills around reflection and realistic goal setting to facilitate change. Each week topics were introduced or expanded upon to promote increased awareness of physical and sensory experiences, including thoughts, behaviours and past patterns. The promotion of self-soothing and self-regulation, to improve daily challenges and experiences and promote positive interactions and behaviours. To support women in developing containment, reciprocity and behaviour management – to promote a sense of control. To promote establishing appropriate, helpful routines and habits.
The workshop was supposed to run for 6 weeks, however the workshop disbanded after week 2 due to poor attendance.
The cost to run the workshop, including staff, venue hire and resources was:
- £311.44
