ABOUT CGMI SHEFFIELD

The Church of God Mission International (Sheffield) is a Christian charity organization dedicated to advancing the Christian faith in Sheffield, the United Kingdom, and other parts of the world. The organization aims to provide various activities and services to promote Christian values and principles, benefiting individuals and communities in need.

We understand that our primary ministry is evangelism, and we live up to our motto of "Evangelism our Supreme Task" by actively engaging in street evangelism and open-air crusades. We strive to make a positive impact on our community, nation, and the world by reaching out with the love of Christ to those who are lost and hurting. We believe in the power of prayer, worship, and fellowship to bring us closer to God and to each other.

OUR OBJECTIVES

• For the public benefit, the advancement of Christian faith in Sheffield and in such other parts of the United Kingdom and the world as the charity trustees may from time decide.

• To effectively advance the Christian faith through compassionate outreach, evangelism, and social support, creating a positive impact in Sheffield and beyond

• To get affiliated to Church of God Mission International (Dagenham), registered charity number 1190389 to:

a) To share ideas

b) Accept pastors and other ministers from her

c) Get support and resources as required.

• To recognise Church of God Mission International, incorporated in Nigeria with CAC/IT/N01245, as a partner for evangelism support.

WHAT WE DO

I. Worship Services: Regularly scheduled services led by qualified ministers and pastors, incorporating elements of prayer, music, scripture reading, and sermons.

II. Outreach Programs : Engaging in evangelistic campaigns, community events, and collaborative efforts with local churches and organizations.

III. Pastoral Care : Trained pastors and counsellors offer confidential counselling sessions, prayer meetings, and support groups to address emotional, relational, and spiritual concerns. IV. Community Engagement : Establishing partnerships with local organizations, actively participating in community events, and addressing pressing social issues.

V. Educational Programs : Enlisting qualified theologians, pastors, and educators to conduct courses, seminars, and workshops on various aspects of Christianity.

VI. Humanitarian Aid: Collaborating with relief organizations, volunteers, and donors to provide essential resources, support, and aid to those in need.

ACHIEVING OBJECTIVES

Church of Mission International (Sheffield) fulfils its purposes through:

  1. Engaging in evangelism, spreading the message of Christ, and sharing the Gospel through various means, including preaching, teaching, and outreach events.

  2. Establishing partnerships with other Christian organizations, churches, and community groups to maximize the impact of their collective efforts.

  3. Conducting needs assessments and research to identify the most pressing spiritual, social, and humanitarian needs within Sheffield and other targeted locations.

  4. Developing and implementing strategic plans, policies, and programs that align with the organization's objectives and values.

ESG AND RESPONSIBLE STEWARDSHIP

To reflect our commitment to responsible stewardship and transparency, the Trustees report on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance, aligning with Charity Commission expectations.

I. Environmental Responsibility:

We promoted sustainable practices among volunteers and members by ensuring the use of energyefficient lighting and heating in church premises. During our programs, we ensured the recycling for paper, plastics, and other waste. We set up "green champions" among volunteers to monitor and encourage these good practices.

II. Social Responsibility:

*Community Outreach – Delivered programs including foodbanks, youth support initiatives, and counselling services to address immediate and long-term community needs. We support over 1000 people yearly, we have collaborated with Aldi for food items and other companies.

*Volunteer Engagement – Actively tracked and recorded volunteer contributions, with a total of over 1,000hours dedicated to supporting our mission.

*Education and Mentorship – Ran educational sessions and mentorship schemes designed to empower members and local young people with skills, guidance, and confidence. One of which is the Academic Excellence Summit done yearly.

III.Governance:

We maintain robust governance through regular trustee meetings to ensure oversight, risk management, and compliance with charity law. Key policies on safeguarding, health and safety, and conflicts of interest are implemented and reviewed annually. Financial accountability is ensured through audited accounts and transparent reporting, while monitoring of ESG metrics allows us to measure impact and drive continuous improvement.

NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

1. Accounting Policies

1.1 Basis of preparation of financial statements

These accounts have been prepared in accordance with “the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)” (effective 1 January 2019) - (Charities SORP (FRS 102)), the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and with the Charities Act 2011.

Church of God Mission International Sheffield meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102. Assets and liabilities are initially recognised at historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise stated in the relevant accounting policy. These accounts are presented in pounds sterling, which is the functional currency of the Charity. Monetary amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest pound (£).

1.2 Going concern

The Trustees have prepared financial projections, taking into consideration the current economic conditions and have, at the time of approving these accounts, a reasonable expectation that the charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus, they continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the accounts.

1.3 Fund accounting

General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion of the Trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the Charity and which have not been designated for other purposes.

Designated funds comprise unrestricted funds that have been set aside by the Trustees for purposes. The aim and use of each designated fund is set out in the notes to the financial statements.

Restricted funds are funds which are to be used in accordance with specific restrictions imposed by donors, or which have been raised by the Charity for particular purposes. The costs of raising and administering such funds are charged against the specific fund. The aim and use of each restricted fund is set out in the notes to the financial statements.

6. Risk Assessment

The Trustees regularly assess the main risks facing the charity and believe that holding the designated level of free reserves, along with annual reviews of key financial controls, ensures adequate resources are available should challenging circumstances arise. They have also reviewed other operational and business risks and confirm that systems are in place to manage and reduce these significant risks.

7. Public Benefit

The Charity recognises its obligation to clearly demonstrate that its aims serve a charitable purpose and deliver public benefit. The Trustees Report outlines how these objectives have been achieved. The Trustees also confirm that they have carefully considered the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit when determining the charity’s activities.
