10. Trustees' Annual Statement
The trustees are proud of the charity’s achievements, including the development of the Wellbeing Garden, partnership growth, and increased community wellbeing impact. Looking forward, TPP aims to expand its nature-based programs, strengthen partnerships, and continue building accessible mental health support through horticulture and community collaboration.
11. Governance, Volunteers and Sustainability
As The Pierce Perspective continues to grow, trustees have remained focused on ensuring the charity is well governed, resilient and able to deliver high-quality support to the communities it serves.
Good governance underpins all of the charity’s work. During the year, trustees have reviewed the charity’s governance arrangements and identified opportunities to strengthen oversight as activities, partnerships and funding increase. Over the coming year, the charity intends to expand its board of trustees to bring a wider range of skills, experience and independent perspectives, supporting strong strategic decision-making and accountability.
Volunteers remain central to the delivery and development of The Pierce Perspective. Their contribution enables the charity to extend its reach, support community projects and maintain the Wellbeing Garden. Looking ahead, the charity is working towards building a more structured and sustainable volunteer programme, increasing volunteer capacity while ensuring appropriate support, safeguarding and supervision are in place.
Trustees are also committed to strengthening the charity’s financial sustainability. While much of the charity’s income is project-restricted, plans are in place to gradually build an unrestricted reserve equivalent to approximately three months’ running costs. This will help ensure continuity of services, responsible financial management and resilience in the face of unforeseen challenges.

Together, these steps reflect the trustees’ commitment to building a strong, sustainable organisation that can continue to support mental wellbeing through nature, connection and community for years to come.
These foundations inform the charity’s strategic priorities for the coming period, set out below.
12. Looking Ahead - Strategic Priorites for 2025-2027
As The Pierce Perspective moves into the next phase of its development, trustees are focused on building a strong, sustainable organisation that can continue to deliver meaningful mental health and wellbeing support through nature and community connection.
A key priority for the coming period is financial resilience. While the charity has successfully delivered projects through restricted funding, trustees recognise the importance of strengthening unrestricted income. Over the next two years, the charity will explore the development of a Regular Giving or “Friends of The Pierce Perspective” model, enabling supporters to contribute small, regular donations. This will support the long-term aim of building an unrestricted reserve equivalent to approximately three months running costs, helping to ensure stability and continuity of services.
The charity will also focus on strengthening governance and advocacy. In addition to expanding the trustee board to bring a wider range of skills and experience, The Pierce Perspective intends to identify and engage a small number of ambassadors. These individuals will help champion the charity’s mission, raise awareness of the link between nature and mental health, and support the development of new partnerships and funding opportunities.
Measuring and demonstrating impact is another important area of development. While qualitative feedback and lived experience have been central to the charity’s work to date, trustees are committed to improving how impact is captured and reported. Over the coming year, the charity will work towards more consistent collection of participation data, feedback and outcomes to better evidence the difference its work makes.
Finally, volunteers will remain at the heart of delivery. Building on the contribution of volunteers to date, the charity will continue developing a more structured volunteer

programme, enabling people to contribute their time and skills in a supported way, while also capturing the social value created through volunteering.
Together, these priorities reflect the trustees commitment to responsible growth, strong governance and long-term sustainability, ensuring The Pierce Perspective can continue to support wellbeing, connection and resilience within the community.
