Chair’s report:
Since registering as a charity in September 2023 things have been precarious for the charity founders and as trustees, we recognise their importance and value of them as human beings! Our trustee training undertaken in March 2023 sharpened our own feelings that holding the well-being of those involved in the charity at all levels should be prioritised. This has meant that the projected internal timescales for the charity have not moved in the way initially planned.
As chair of the charity, though, I am aware that a lot of ongoing “thought” work has been happening, and as we look to the coming months and years, the charity is wellpositioned to begin the work of recruiting a steering group of young people who will be central to shaping strategy. Practical aspects of work around establishing a charity bank account and looking at funding streams are also developments which I believe we will be able to move towards in the very near future.
As trustees, we are incredibly invested in supporting the charity as it develops, and also in supporting and nurturing our brilliant founders as they work alongside the young people at the very heart of it all.

Additional governance issues
Powered By Youth was officially registered as a charity on 11[th] September 2023. Since this time sadly both founders; Poppy Sargeaunt and Laura Busby had to place the development of the charity on the back seat due to the death of Laura’s father and Poppy adopting 2 small children under 3 years as well as having pneumonia 4 times and being hospitalized.
This has resulted in the charity not developing at the time scale we had set internally.
