## **Related party transactions**
At the start of the financial year the charity owed a trustee a net balance of £749, as reported in the prior year. This arose from the trustee's support to the charity, comprising a short-term interest-free loan and veterinary costs paid personally by the trustee on the charity's behalf, offset against personal purchases that had been made using charity funds and treated as repayable by the trustee.
During the year ended 30 September 2025 the net balance owed by the charity to the trustee reduced to £463.87. This balance is shown as a liability in the statement of assets and liabilities.
After the year end, the trustee agreed to write off the outstanding balance of £463.87 owed to them by the charity. This is a post balance sheet event and will be reflected in the accounts for the year ending 30 September 2026. The board records its sincere gratitude for the trustee's continued financial support, which has been important to sustaining the charity's operations.
## **Section C Objectives and activities**
## **Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document**
Lola's Sanctuary Animal Rescue has been set up for the benefit of animals who are abandoned, surrendered, stray or in need of medical attention. Based in the UK, the charity is dedicated to providing sanctuary, relief and rescue to animals both in the UK and abroad. It provides specialist facilities and lifelong care to animals with complex needs. The charity benefits the general public by rehoming surrendered animals, strays and animals in need, and provides members of the public with the opportunity to volunteer, foster and adopt companion animals.
## **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit**
The charity actively engages the public by providing meaningful opportunities to foster, volunteer and adopt animals both locally and internationally. These efforts help rehome animals in need and
build a closer connection between the community and animal welfare. The trustees confirm that they have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit.
## **Section D Achievements and performance**
Lola's Sanctuary Animal Rescue is a dedicated, small-scale animal rescue organisation based in the UK. This year the charity operated on a smaller financial scale than the prior period, while continuing to focus its resources on direct animal welfare, in particular veterinary care and animal supplies, which together accounted for the substantial majority of the charity's expenditure.
## **Care for animals with medical and special needs**
The charity continued to prioritise the care and rehabilitation of animals with medical and special needs, providing veterinary treatment and a safe environment in which they could recover.
## **Rehoming and responsible pet ownership**
The charity continued its rehoming work, assessing animals and matching them with suitable homes, and maintained its commitment to responsible pet ownership including neutering as part of the rehoming process.
## **Community engagement**
The charity continued to raise awareness of animal welfare and to encourage members of the public to volunteer, foster and adopt.
## **Section E Financial review**
## **Review of the year**
Total receipts for the year were £15,254 and total payments were £16,883, resulting in a deficit for the year of £1629 on an income and expenditure basis. On a cash basis, cash funds held reduced from £2,714 at the start of the year to £1,085 at the year end, held across the charity's Barclays and PayPal accounts. The reduction reflects continued investment in veterinary care and animal supplies during a year of lower income than the prior period.
## **Reserves policy**
The charity aims to maintain unrestricted reserves at a level sufficient to cover at least one month of core operating costs, ensuring it can continue to operate and meet its obligations in the event of a shortfall in income or unexpected expenditure. The trustees review the level of reserves annually in light of the charity's financial position, risks and future plans.
## **Funds in deficit**
The charity does not operate any restricted or designated funds. All income and expenditure are managed through unrestricted funds, which were not in deficit at the end of the reporting period.
