During the financial year ended 30/09/2024, several transactions took place with a trustee. For clarity, these are detailed below.

**Support provided to the Charity by the trustee:** To support the charity's cash flow and activities, the trustee provided financial assistance in two forms:

   1. A short-term, interest-free loan of £1,550 was provided to the charity.

   2. The trustee personally paid for £2,484 of legitimate charitable expenditure (veterinary costs) on behalf of the charity, creating a further amount to be reimbursed.

- The total amount owed by the charity to the trustee for this support was £4,034. **Accidental Personal Use of Funds by the trustee:** Separately, the trustee made accidental personal purchases totalling £3,285 using charity funds. This amount was treated as a short-term, interest-free loan due back to the charity from the trustee.

- **Net Position at Year-End:** The board agreed to offset the amount owed by the trustee against the larger amount owed to the trustee. After offsetting these amounts, the net balance at the financial year-end was a liability of **£749** owed by the charity to the trustee.

- The board of trustees has reviewed these transactions and wishes to record its sincere gratitude for the trustee's significant financial support, which has been vital for sustaining the charity's operations.

Section D Achievements and performance

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**

Lola’s Sanctuary Animal Rescue is a dedicated, small-scale animal rescue organization based in the UK. Despite our size, this year we have achieved significant milestones in our mission to improve the lives of animals, both domestically and internationally. The following outlines the key accomplishments and initiatives that have had a profound impact on the animals we care for and the wider community.

## **Care for Special Needs Animals**

One of our primary areas of focus this year has been the care and rehabilitation of animals with special medical needs. Throughout the year, Lola’s Sanctuary Animal Rescue provided dedicated care for **34 special needs cats** , each of which had specific medical requirements. These cats faced a range of challenges, from chronic health conditions to physical disabilities, all of which required specialized veterinary care, individual attention, and a safe, comfortable environment in which they could thrive. Our team worked tirelessly to meet their needs, offering not only medical treatment but also the emotional and physical support necessary for their recovery.

## **Rehoming Efforts and Successful Adoptions**

In line with our mission to find loving homes for rescued animals, we have successfully rehomed a total of **35 dogs** and **24 cats** this year. Each animal was carefully assessed and matched with appropriate adoptive families, ensuring that they found not only a new home, but a family environment suited to their temperament, needs, and personalities. Our rehoming efforts have extended beyond the UK, reinforcing our commitment to helping animals internationally. **International Partnerships and Outreach**

Lola’s Sanctuary Animal Rescue has also made significant strides in expanding its international outreach efforts. Through strong and enduring partnerships with organizations in **Bulgaria, Romania** , **Greece** and **Turkey** , we were able to rescue and provide sanctuary to animals in dire need from abroad. These international collaborations have been crucial in allowing us to bring animals to safety, where they receive the care and attention necessary for recovery and eventual adoption. These partnerships highlight our dedication to not only improving animal welfare locally but also contributing to global rescue efforts.

## **Responsible Pet Ownership: Neutering Initiatives**

In line with our ethical standards and commitment to responsible pet ownership, all the animals—both cats and dogs—were **neutered** prior to being homed or as part of the homing agreement. Neutering plays a vital role in controlling the overpopulation of animals, ensuring that rescued animals do not contribute to the growing number of homeless pets. By making neutering a key part of our

rehoming process, we continue to promote a culture of responsible pet care, reducing the strain on rescue organizations and local animal shelters.

## **Community Engagement and Education**

In addition to our rescue efforts, Lola’s Sanctuary Animal Rescue places a high value on **community outreach** and education. This year, we delivered talks to local communities to raise awareness about animal welfare issues, the importance of neutering, and the challenges faced by rescue organizations. These talks were designed not only to inform the public but also to inspire individuals to take an active role in supporting animal welfare. We encouraged community members to volunteer, foster, and adopt animals in need, which directly contributes to the welfare of the animals in our care and helps foster a compassionate, informed society.

## **Conclusion**

In conclusion, this year has been a remarkable one for Lola’s Sanctuary Animal Rescue, marked by the successful care and rehoming of special needs animals, our ongoing international partnerships, and our commitment to responsible pet ownership and community engagement. Despite being a small organization, we continue to make a significant impact both locally and internationally, and we are proud of the positive outcomes achieved for the animals and communities we serve.
