Crossnet Trust
Crossnet Trust Trustees Annual Report
Report of the Trustees for Annual Return August 2023 – December 2024:
Crossnet Trust became a CIO in August 2023. Having been part of the Anglican communion since 2004, the lay leaders of four small communities that made up Crossnet made the decision to leave the Anglican church and join 24-7 Prayer network of churches. This move was motivated by the fact that the Anglican church was unable to provide the right kind of support and training structures for a group of lay led churches spread across different dioceses whereas 24-7 Prayer is very well equipped to do so. It has been a very positive move.
Since becoming a CIO, very little has changed in the structures of Crossnet and the communities continue to function well and according to the aims of the charity. In this period, we have three communities in Bristol, Battersea, and Streatham with plans to welcome one community based in Chelmsford and to plant another in Bristol. We also run a student mission service on a weekday in a chapel in the grounds of Bristol University student halls. We see a continuing interest in small community churches that are focussed on mission and discipleship especially among the 20-35 age group.
The giving (predominantly donations through Stewardship) at Crossnet remains steady and is used for running costs (payments of invoices, donations to 24-7 Prayer, venue hire, bursaries for training, honoraria for visiting speakers, gifts to charities and individuals in need). As most of the work at Crossnet is carried out by volunteers and we have a very low maintenance structure, we are able to be generous in what we give away.
Plans for the future include some leaders moving on to other churches due to house moves and growing families as well as creating opportunities for new church plants. In addition to this, we are open to welcoming existing communities that share our values to join Crossnet Trust.

Recruiting new Trustees:
New Trustees are appointed during a board meeting by current Trustees. This is triggered by the existing Trustees agreeing to the need to recruit, or if the number of Trustees was to fall under the minimum requirement of 3 members. A minimum term of 3 years is required whereby a Trustee can be re-elected. A Trustee can only serve up to 3 consecutive terms before they must step down, however, they may be reappointed after an interval of at least 1 year.
It is encouraged to have Trustees who are from each of the communities – if possible – to help with representation.
All Trustees hold a volunteer position and therefore do not receive remunerations for their time/work.
Object of Charity:
As specified in our CIO constitution, the Object of the CIO is - for the public benefit - the advancement of the Christian faith, in particular (but without limitation) by providing worship, prayer and Christian teaching. We continue to realise this through our weekly services at each community, our student mission service at the Bristol University Chapel and from other communities wanting to join our small church model valuing, discipleship, community and mission.
