ACtION The Hope4Creation Foundation Trustees, Annual Report 01 Soptombor 2024- 31 August 2025 Objectives and activities Purposes The Hope4Crealion Foundation I'H4C"I was established lo help faith communities move from environmental intention lo meaningful, sustsined climate and nature action. Ils purpose is rooted in the belief that people of faith can be powerful leaders in addressing the climate crisis, offering both moral clarity and praelical solutions. Main activities The charity supports failh-led climate and nature action through events, exhibitions, and educational resources. In ils first period, the charity focused on building networks, speaking al national and international forums, and partnering with like-minded organisations to amplify its mission. Alongside public engagement, H4C developed Internal structures and tools to support long-term impact. H4C's work directly benefits the public by encouraging climate action cenlred around faith communities, which often have wide-reaching influence and trust. By supporting education, awareness, and leadership on nature & climate issues, the charity contributes lo broader environmental stewardship and social responsibility in line with UK charity law. Public bgnefit Achievgmgnts and Performance 1. Church Engagement On Saturday 7th September, H4C hosted a 3-hour workshop in collaboration with Sl John's Church IW11, London) for the ecclesiastical Season of Creation. It incorporated Rev'd Canon Dr Gharlotte's doctoral research into the neuroscien￿ of behavioural change, scriptural reasoning, eco-theology and practical advice lo help allendees feel greater agency when dealing with the Glimate crisis. At the workshop, leaders and congregation members from churches within the Diocese of London had the opportunty to leam how lo tske sustained action on climate change, whether they were actively working towards an Eco Church Award or were completely new to ideas around creation care. 2. Conference Participation H4C was honoured lo support the 2024 Conservation Optimism Summit at Keble College, Oxford. from 16-19 September- a four-day event bringing together scientists, actlV151s, anij storytellers from a diverse range of disciplines dedicated to protecting the natural wodd. H4C's Project Associate, Anna Dominey, participated in a series of panels called Meetings with Remarkable Projects on 18th September 2024. For our panel topic, "Building Hope for Creation. attendees had the opportunity lo hear about our approach lo combatting eco-anxiety and empowering members of religious communities to act in the fa￿ of ecological crises. Anna responded lo follow-up questions about how they can get involved and how we can support one another. H4C was able lo connect with like-minded organisations to find opportunities for effective collaboration. 3. Training on Governance On 12th November 2024, Project As50ciale Anna Dominey, attended a free training event hosted by the Charity Commission on behalf of the Board. The whole-day event was intended lo translate the Charity Commission's requirements into practical advice, to help newly established charities lo ensure compliance. 11The Hope4Creation Foundation Annual Report 2025 Creation FAITH. ACtION Through a series of exercises, a number of measures to support the charity's performance were identified_ Chieffly, the need was established for the creation of Intemal financial controls, which were subsequently designed collaboratively behveen the Board and the Accountants. 4. Local Public gngag9mgnl The H4C team participated in the Oxford Indie Book Fair at the prestigious Examination Schools on 1 st December. The founder, Rev'd Canon Dr Chartolle Bannister-Parker, joined a panel with legendary local biologist and onsetvationist Hugh Watwiok laka Hedgehog Hugh) to dis¢uss"How to Save Planet Earth. The session was Ghaired by the author and environmentalist Hugh Warwick. 5. Climate Training and Accreditation On Feb 13th, 2025, The Rev Canon Dr Charlotte Bannister-Parker look part in the Climate Fresk workshop and the follow-up training session lo become a qualified Climate Fresk Facilitator. Climate Fresk, a game and leaching tool. encourages the rapid and widespread understanding of climate issues, and prompts participants to lake constructive acti'on lo 18ckle climate change. 6. Education work In Feb - June 2025, H4C presented al three Residential Modules for the Senior Faith Leadership Programme, hosted by Faith in Leadership at Sl. Georye's House, Windsor. On 26th February, Jewish, Christian and Muslim leaders from across the UK were introduced to the H4C module about eco-aclion by Rev'd Canon Dr Charlotte Bannisler-Parker. Charlotte presented alongside the Imam Monawar Hussian, Imam Zackarya Gangat and Tamra Wright, Jewish Academic specializing in Tiny Habits. On 13th May, the participants led the session on Images in Nature - a reflection of their one commitment to climate change action based on the H4C model. 7. Or9anisations working alongside H4C in 2024-2025 As a charity whose Identity is rooted in cornmunily, we understand the importance of effective partnerships and collaboration lo maximise our efficiency in the face of the multifaceted changes posed by climate change. Through the course of representing H4C al high profile events, we have built professional links wrth a number of prestigious and impacfful organisations which we aim to leverage for the promotion of faith inspired climate action in the future. ACtION Plans for Future Perlods H4C plans to expand its reach through starting a monthly newsletter, delivering failh-lnspired climate action and bringing climate hope directly lo the inbox of those who have signed up for it. 11 will encapsulate Hope4Creation's method of encoura9ing farth communits'es lo transform concem about the climate crisis into tangible faith-rooted eco- action. The newsletter will be promoted at H4C events, including a London-based launch event, with the aim of building a wider following to maximise H4C's reach and impact. H4C is also developing a standing conference series of two events a year. These conferences are designed to bring diverse perspectives into an interfaith space lo inspire and have meaningful conversations about nature and climate. These unique events aim to bring together the feeling of a retreat together while remaining accessible and grounded in diverse lived experien￿$. Finally, H4C is expanding its educational resources. and plans to design, test and disseminate "Hopewalks", based on the con￿pt of eco-pilgrimage. This portable booklet will guide recipients to walk through nature with their senses and use it lo reflect on their connection with nature and how they can take action lo look after it. Hopewalks will be launched and promoted Ihrough H4C events and educational partnerships, including a guided walk and I￿asUre hunt for children and families. Principal Risks and Uncertainties H4C faces risks common lo all early-slage small charities. including dependency on a limited number of funding sources. There is a push for further diversification of the funding structure, and yet a desire to keep the charity small and supported by part-time freelan￿ staff. The Trustees have reviewed the financial policy and implemented financial controls, with support from professional accountants. Financial Review H4C's activities in 2023-2026 ha5 been ftjnded by a grant of £30,000 from the CAF American Donor Fund, also known as Southampton Row Trust Limited. This funding continued lo support project costs, staffing, and professional services, including legal and financial advice throughout 2024-25. This included putting £10,000 in our reserve account. In 2025-2026 will see a push to diversify funders and consolidate our financial trajectory. Slru¢ture, goveman¢e and management Personal.. In May 2025 H4C hired its second Project Associate, Priscilla Obilana, as Anna Dominey (first Project Associate January 2024 - May 20251 went on to a full-time position al the Net Zero Institute at The Martin Smith School, Oxford University. Priscilla stayed with H4C from May lo November 2025, after which she moved back to Dublin, her hometown, lo work with the NHS. Trustee meetings were held on 13th October 2024, 27th February 2025 and 7th April 2025. A new Iruslee, Rabbi Dr Judith Rosen-Bery, was appointed lo the board in April 2025. Accounting policies 1.1 Charity information The Hope4Creation Foundation I"H4C°} is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation ICIOI, registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales under Charity Number 1204459. The charity was established on 23 August 2023 and operates to help faith communities transition from environmental intention to sustained climate action. 1.2 Basls of preparatlon These accounts have been prepared in accordance with FRS 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" I'FRS 102.1, "Accounting and Reporting by Charities- the Statement of Recommended Practice for charities applying FRS 102 and the Charities Act 2011. The accounts are prepared in pound steding (£1, which is the functional currency of H4C. Monetary amounts in these accounts are rounded to the nearest pound steding. Assets and liabilities are initially recognised at hisloncal cost or transaction value unless otherwise slated in the relevant accounting policy notes. As the charity qualifies as a small entity under section 1A of FRS 102, il has taken advantage of the exemption from preparing a statement of cash flows. 1.3 Public benefit ontity As a registered charity, H4C operates as a Public Benefit Entity under the terms sel out by charity law. The charity's purpose is lo support public benefit by enabling faith communities to move from environmental intention to sustained climate action. In line with charity law, H4C's activities are designed to benefit the wider public, particularly by empowering people of faith lo engage in climate action. The charity achieves this thmugh 8duealion31 initiatives, participation in intarfaith dialoguas, and tha eraalion of r8sourc6s aimad at fostering environmentally sustainable pracli¢es within faith-based communities. 1.4 Going ¢on¢em The CIO is reliant on generating income from donations_ On the basis of this income and the ongoing aclivilie5 of the CIO, the Trustees are of the opinion that there are no malerial uncertainties that the CIO'S activities are able to continue for the foreseeable future, being twelve months from the dale of approval of the accounts and therefore have prepared the accounts on a going concem basis. 1.5 Charitable funds Unreslricled funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in fvrtherance of Iheir charitable objectives unless the funds have been designated for other purposes. Restricted funds are to be used for specific purposes as laid down by the donor. Cash donations and income are recognised on receipt. Other donations are recognised once the charity has been notified of the donation unless performance conditions require deferral of the amount. Income lax recoverable in relation to donations received under Gift ￿"d or deeds of covenant is recognised at the lime of the donation. Interest on deposit funds held is included when receivable and the amount can be measured reliably by Ihe charity which is normally upon notification of the interest paid or payable by the bank_ 1.7 Resources expended and allocation of support costs All expenditure is recognised in the period in which a liability is incurred and has been classified under headings that aggregate all costs related to that category. Charitable expenditure comprises those costs incurred by the CIO In the delivery of ils activities and services for ils beneficiaries. 11 Includes both costs that can be allocated directly lo such activities and those costs of an indireel nature necessary to support them. Basic financial instruments are initially recognised al transaction value and subsequently measured al their settlement value with the exception of bank loans which are subsequently measured at amortisèd cost using the effective Inte￿$t method. 1.9 Cash and cash equivalents Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand, deposits held at call with banks, and other short-term liquid investments with original maturities of three months or less. 1.10 Creditors Creditors are reeognised where the charity has a present obligation resulting from a past event that will probably result in the transfer of funds lo a third party and the amount due lo sellle the obligation can be measured or estimated reliably.
