The Group started its activities in March 2021 and then registered as a CIO with the Charities

December 2025.
The Boston Spa, Wetherby & Villages Green Group was set up with three objectives=
l. To reduce our carbon emissions
2. To increase biodiversity
3. To reduce waste and increase recycling in our community
Our aiffl is to help the environment in our local area, but hopefully other areas can benefit from
some of our ideas.
We have set up 3 community action Eroups to focus on specific areas, namely..
Protecting and increasing Tree Cover, and creating Wildlife Corridors
Big Bike Fix
Education & Collaboration
Summary of main achievements in the period
O Helping people save energy and money. Supporting Yorkshire businesses and creating local green
jobs.
O Planted over 400 trees in our local communitv.
Fixed and donated over 1,000 bikes since starting as part of our Big Bike Fix.
Working to improve our natural riverside environment. Natural hedge creation, developing
orchards, riverside improvements and new educational signage. All with the objective of helping
biodiversity, slowing rainfall runoff and prevent flooding.
O Worked with local schools to help them with the STEM Learning.
Engaged with the wider community. To 31 December 2025 we have helped run 5 Eco Fairs in
collaboration with local churches. We have also organised citizen science events such as moth
trapping, bat walks and excess fruit stalls.
All community volunteers.
Every week, we are gethng new members joining us who would like to get involved in some aspect of
protecting our local environment, reducing our carbon waste, increasing biodiversity or reducing
waste.
During 2026 we have been nominated for the Kings Award for Voluntary Service and await to hear
further news.

Charity's Financial Position during and at the end of the period
We have continued with the same activities as the preceding years, focussing on the trees and
wildlife activities and the big bike fix. We ensure that any money that is received for specific
purposes is allocated accordingly for example Parish Council money which has been received to
assist with the Trees and Wildlife activities has been kept separate from other funds. At the end of
the period there are no restricted funds being carried forward.
We will continue to look to provide activities in line with our objectives and seek the necessary
funds.
