The objects of the Forest of Dean Hedgehog Rescue are :-
To further the conservation and preservation of the hedgehog species by providing a rescue, care rehabilitation service for sick, injured, or orphaned hedgehogs with the aim of releasing such hedg into the wild wherever possible. To promote the education of the public in the welfare of hedgeho the care, methods of treatment, conservation and habitat of hedgehogs.

## Chair's Report
The chair reports the rescue was very busy to the extreme at times. A lot of Autumn and s mother and babies with disturbed nests or hoglets found needing help were successfully and released back to the wild, along with treating adult hedgehogs with veterinarian guida those with mild to serious symptom’s, of dehydration, illnesses, parasitic infections, viruse injuries.
The rescue also worked well with other rescues sharing knowledge for the best practices benefit of the hedgehogs.
Vol ~~u~~ nteers were trained to a high standard regarding infection control to help prevent spre ~~o~~ ther hedgehogs or the volunteers themselves. The volunteers would often go above and assisting the smooth running of the rescue. Volunteers have been essential to help with tra ~~nsp~~ orting hedgehogs to the rescue, in general husbandry of the building, cleaning out h givi ~~ng~~ food and water, checking for hedgehog issues along with medications.
Volunteers also helped with fund raising, manning stalls and raising awareness of the res ~~g~~ ivi ~~ng~~ beneficial information to the general public with their complexities of their needs, of safe gardens, getting them help quickly when needed to give them a chance of survival.
Unfortunately, due to the difficulties of getting enough volunteers and time spent training t working full time, the founder struggled with the running of the rescue causing severe hea issues. It was decided that at the end of the financial year in August 2025 and with great s the rescue would close permanently. We are thankful to all the support given to help rescu many hedgehogs that came to us over the years.
All the rescue equipment, including incubators, hutches, food and smaller equipment whe closed were distributed between other local hedgehog rescues to continue benefiting hed in the future.
## Treasurers Report
Funds have been generously donated by the public to help with the survival of hedgehogs adding essential equipment. Monthly sponsorships of hutches and incubators, brought in monetary value to help cover costs of vet bills, medications and specialist foods for hoglet sick and injured hedgehogs. Accountant used. No debts at the end of the financial year. A bank account was used and now closed after any final payments issued.
## Reserves Policy Statement
The trustees confirm that no formal reserves policy has been adopted but that they will se maintain sufficient financial reserves to enable the proper settlement of any debts incurred running the charity and hold, if possible, sufficient cash reserves to enable the running of t charity for a period of 6 months. We have assessed the likely financial risks to the organis
## How are we Meeting our Charitable objects?
~~T~~ he stalls at events and giving leaflets of information are a great success to enable word o mouth of the rescue and direct contact to educate the public over the best ways to help hed ~~ge~~ hogs by creating the environments for their survival. By providing them with access wat ~~er~~ year around and the correct food, if possible, especially during droughts. Supply of hed ~~g~~ ehog houses and feeding stations to hedgehogs being rehabilitated and released ba the wild. Information on how to decide if a hedgehog needs help, who to contact and wher ~~b~~ e t ~~ak~~ en. What to do if nests are disturbed. What habitats are best. Encouragement of na ~~e~~ nv ~~iro~~ nments without the use of pesticides and chemicals. To check for hedgehogs before ~~s~~ trimmers or garden tools. Educate to prevent accidents and co-exist with nature.
On receiving news a hedgehog needs help, to give information, arrange transportation (if needed), checked by a vet when injured, receive medication or treatment to return to full h Ensure its being released back to a safe environment.
## Public Benefit Statement
Trustees confirm that they have taken due notice of the guidance published by the Charity Commission in regards to the public benefit when reviewing the aims and objectives of the and in planning the activities.

## Trustee Recruitment and Induction Statement
Trustees shall be elected by votes cast by those eligible to do so at the Annual General M or be co-opted by the Management Committee at some other time provided the total numb trustees does not exceed the maximum number allowed. Prospective trustees shall put fo det ~~ai~~ ls of their potential contribution to the running of the charity and be appropriately prop ~~a~~ nd seconded. Support for new trustees will be given by the provision of a pack containing of the charity, records of meetings held in the past year and, if required, appropriate trainin ena ~~ble~~ the new trustee to fulfil their role to the benefit of the charity and its beneficiaries.

## **On accounts for the year ended 31st August 2025.**

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust” year ended 31[st] August 2025.
## **Responsibilities and Basis of Report**
As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accord the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
## **Independent Examiner's Statement**
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my att connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material res - •the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
• the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and acc ~~oun~~ ts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any ~~r~~ equirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered ~~a~~ n independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examin which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding o accounts to be reached.

## **1 Accounting Policies;**
## **Basis Of Preparation Of Financial Statements:**
The financial statements are prepared under the historic cost convention, and in accordance with the Financial reporting Standard for Smaller Entities (effective January 2007), and the Charities SORP 2016 (Accounting and Reporting by Charities) and comply with the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2016 issued under the Charities' Act 2011.
## **Incoming Resources:**
Grants Receivable are included in full in the Statement of Financial Activities in the year in which the conditions for their receipt have been complied with. Grants restricted to future accounting periods are deferred and recognised in those future accounting periods. Grants are apportioned to accounting periods on a time apportionment basis.
Voluntary income received by way of donations, and investment income, is included in full in the Statement of Financial Activities in the year in which it is receivable. The value of services by volunteers is not included.
## **Tangible Fixed Assets And Depreciation:**
Tangible fixed assets are stated at cost less depreciation.
Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write off the cost of the fixed assets, less their estimated residual value, over the expected useful lives.
## **Restricted Funds:**
Restricted funds are to be used for the designated purposes as laid down by the original donors.
## **Unrestricted Funds:**
Unrestricted funds are donations and other incoming resources receivable or generated for the objects of the charity without further specified purpose and are available as general funds.
## **Resources Expended:**
Resources expended are recognised in the period in which they are incurred. Resources expended include attributable VAT which cannot be recovered. Resources expended are allocated to the particular activity where the cost relate to the activity.
