|---|---|---|
|Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document|Para 1.17|The England Football Charity is a national
charity that aims to harness the power of
football for the good of society. We do this
through effective fundraising, grant making
and performance monitoring of new and
existing programmes that utilise football to
drive individual, community and societal
development and provide mental health
benefits.
The target beneficiary groups are those from
an impoverished background or with a
disability. The current focus is on helping
young people not in employment, education
or training (NEET). During this year, we have
been doing the groundwork to develop our
first project which will support NEETs by
ensuring they have a trusted adult available
to support them at their grassroots football
club.|
|Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or services
identified in the accounts.|Para 1.17 and
1.19|In our second year of operation, the focus
has been on ensuring a robust foundation for
the charity, through effectively embedding all
critical governance, organisational and
operational activities.
Hence, whilst initial fundraising activities and
engagement have been conducted, which
has established a number of highly viable
donor income streams, no direct delivery has
taken place this year.|
|Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit|Para 1.18|Our trustees have acted with all due regard
to the guidance issued by the Charity
Commission on public benefit, when
exercising their power and duties to which
the guidance is relevant.|

## **Achievements and Performance**

||SORP reference||
|---|---|---|
|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|Following confirmation as a Charitable
Incorporated Organisation by the Charity
Commission on 15thAugust 2023, this
second year of the England Football Charity
has focused on finalising the comprehensive
set-up of the charity.
To this end, a wide variety of governance,
organisational and operational activities
have been completed. From a governance
perspective, we have implemented the
required policies to operate, established a
cadence of trustee meetings and ensured
effective ways of working are embedded in
the charity. From an organisational
perspective, we have leveraged Football
Association (FA) value-in-kind support to
develop the charity, utilising legal and
strategic expertise provided by FA-funded
organisations. From an operational
perspective, we have embedded the
necessary financial, communication and
engagement systems to operate, established
relationships with key organisations in our
area of operation and developed all
necessary branding, marketing and
promotional collateral.
Initial fundraising activities and engagement
have been completed, which has established
a number of highly viable donor income
streams for the coming years, as well as
developing a strong network of partners.|

## **Financial Review**

|Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period|Para 1.21|No direct financial activity occurred at the
England Football Charity during this
reporting period.
All activity undertaken was funded either
through value-in-kind resource provided by
The Football Association or undertaken by
the trustees without charge.|
|---|---|---|
|Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held|Para 1.22|The England Football Charity has adopted a
clear reserves policy, which we follow as a
charity.
In our role as a grant giving organisation, we
aim to redistribute the vast majority of the
income we receive back out again, to enable
outcomes that support our beneficiaries.
The only area where will we require reserves
is once there are operational costs for the
charity, the major element of which will be
salaries. For these, as a minimum reserves
will be held to cover the notice period, with
the aim of building up to a reserves level that
covers three months of operational activity.|
|Amount of reserves held|Para 1.22|None|
|Reasons for holding zero
reserves|Para 1.22|Currently there is no financial burden on the
England Football Charity, given activity
undertaken has been delivered either
through value-in-kind resource provided by
The Football Association or undertaken by
the trustees without charge.
At the point where it becomes necessary to
hold reserves, these will be built-up in
accordance with the reserves policy.|
|Details of fund materially in
deficit|Para 1.24|n/a|
|Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a going
concern|Para 1.23|There are no uncertainties about the charity
continuing as a going concern.
Whilst there was no fundraising income in
the second year of operation, this aligned
with the approach agreed with the trustees
to first ensure a robust governance,
organisational and operational set-up. The
fact that initial fundraising activities and
engagement has established a number a
viable donor income streams for the coming
years provides confidence over future
fundraising income.|
