Trustees’ report August 2023 – April 2024

The Trustees first met on 17 April 2023.

The Trust received registration as a CIO on 7 August 2023.

The Trustees had by then met twice.

Application was made to Lloyds’ Bank in September 2023 to open a bank account Despite our best efforts, the account was not finally opened until 10 July 2024. Therefore for the period of this Annual Return there was no account, no income and no expenditure .

Between 7 August 2023 and 5 April 2024 the Trustees met 3 times. A flier was produced to enable dissemination of information.

A working group was set up to plan for the future, and had produced a vision and strategy document. It also co-ordinated volunteers, and to date had organised such work as deep cleaning, clearing the grounds, cutting hedges, cleaning the chapel, and a regular inspection of the buildings to check for problems. Expert opinion was gained on the refurbishment needs of the buildings, and on necessary compliance.

Wood-burning stoves were removed from the sleeping accommodation. £100,000 had been promised, an architect engaged, and a builder identified, for building the link between the accommodation and the church.

A safeguarding policy was commissioned, with the assistance of a firm called “Thirty One Eight”.

A donations policy was agreed.

Work for production of the following policies was put in hand: Health & Safety, Employment, Data protection, Conflict of interest.

We were not yet ready to host staying guests, as the buildings were not yet able to provide suitable accommodation.

Regular worship was reintroduced in December 2023 with an Evening service on the second Sunday of each month attended by several local people.
