The Group's governing documents are those of The Scout Association. They ConS￿t of a Royal Charter,
which in turn gives aLrthority to the Bye Law5 of the Association and The Policy. Organisation and Rules
IPORI of The Scout Assooation.
The Group is a trust estsblished under its r￿eS which are common to all Scouts.
The Trustees are appointed in accordance with ￿ Policy. Organisation and Rulesof The Scout
Association.
The Group Is managed by the Group Trustee Board. the members of which are the'charity Trustees, of
the Scout Group which is an educational charity. As charity trustees they are responsible for complying
with legislation applicable to charit*s. This incI￿jeS the registration. keeping proFer accounts ana rn3￿ng
retums to the Charity CoMmiss￿n as appropriate.
The Trustee Board consists of the Chair. Treasurer. and up to 10 other Trustees, and meets 3-4 times per
year.
All Trustees complete The Scout Association trustee and mandatory leaming withn the first six month5 of
joinlng the Trustee Board. ￿Y aso complete other Scout Association mond4tory Learning perlodically as
required.
This Group Trustee Board exists to make sure the charity 15 well managed, risk5 are assessed and
mitigated, buildings and equipment are in good working order. and everyone follows legal requirements
nd Scout Association Policy. Organlsation & Rules. Their support helps other volunteers run high-quality
and safe programmes that give young pe¢)ple skius for lrfe.

In order to •thieve the Scout Group objectives we deliver Scouling to i)ur Youth Members through
Squlrrel Dreys14-6 year oldsl, two Beaver Colonies16-8 year olds). Iwo Cub Pack518-10.5 year olds) and
two S¢out Troop$110.5-14 y••r olds). through a Partnered Explorer Unit called Iceni Explorer Scout Unit
114- 18 year olds). supporting Young Leaders auoss multiple sectrlns, and supporb'ng Network118-24
year olds) activities.
The Group Trustees confirm that the Charity meets the Charity Commission's public benefft criteria under
both the advancement of education and the advancement of otizen5hip or communty benefit headings.

1st Doddington continued to be in a strong posIt￿n at the end of the year. remalniNJ an actsve Group with
varied programme delivered across our eight sections12 Squirrel Dreys, 2 Beaver Colonies, 2 Cub Packs
and 2 Scout Tr¢)opsl. as well as the partnered Iceni Explorer Scout UniL It is encour•ging to see 50 many
Young People progres&ng through the sections. achieving their top awards, and benefitung from the fun,
adventure and S￿11 development each new stage offers.
As Scouts reach around 14 years old. mary move to the Iceni ExFiorer Unli Several current Explorers
have also tsken on Young Le4d¢r roLe=, and all tions have benefftted from the $￿POrt and •nthusiasm
they bring. Young Leader developff*nt has been strengthened through Fenland Di*ict's multi-module
training day, and the Young Leaders them5eLves are keen to complete their missions towards achieving
thelr Young Leader BeLL
Volunteer recruitment has continued positi¥Ely. with new volunteers joining across all section types. The
Group's Suc￿sS relie5 entirely on the dedication and gift of time from our volunteer& They enable so
many experiences for so many Young People. and we are extremely gratefvl ts ev￿thIng they
contribute - whÈther supporting background athtties such as building maintenance and administrative

responsibilities. or leading front-line activityes induding section meetings. hikes. campfires. bushcrafL
water activities and much more.
The Trustee Board appointsd an addibonai Twstee at the 2025 AGM. He has been a welcome addriion.
strengthening the governance ofthe Group and enabling us to ￿￿et the minimum requirement of five
Trustses as set out in our constrbjtion.
Trustees were required to read and tske note of the reg￿atOry advice note from the Charty Commission
that was issued nationally in earty February 2026 to all in S¢¢￿ting. We can confirni that the Trustee
Board undertook this required action at their Board meeting on 2P February 2026.

Squlrreis staying ovemight at Group Camp in Newmarket for the first time, aliowng them to be
fully integrated into the Group-wide eXper￿nCe.
Beavers enjoying a tr•n trip from Marth to the Nene Valley Railway- an exating new experience

Cub$ winning the District Backwoods Cooking Competit*)n and also tsking part in a memorable
sleepover in the shark tunnel at the Sealife Centre in Hunstanton.

This year we have continued to strengthen our inter-group relationship with 1st Whittiesey. p*ticulariy in
preparation tor the Holland Camp taking place this Augustfor Scouts and Explorers. This builds on the
successful joint 8eigium Camp in 2024.
In terms of funding. we have been successfijl in seojring further grants. These have enabled us to equip
the Group for many years to corr* with new tents. shelters and an addIt￿naL marquee- significant assets
for Group-wide events such as Group Camps, and essential for future camping wowsion. Work was
und•rtak•n to expioro option2 to cover t￿. rtijtdnctrr arpa at the back nf the Scout Hall to inuease usable
outdoor space in poor weather. As the Hall is wrthin a conservation area, this rewifes further remew and
consideration of alternative approxhe&

The Group's polity on reserves is to hold sufficient resources to continue the charitable xtivsties ofthe
group should income and fundraising artivities fall sh¢)rL The Group Trustee Board consider that the
Group Should hoLd a sum equivalent to 12 months running costs. arca £26
The Group heid reserves of approximately £31.lJ)O against this at year end. This wa5 above the level
required for 25126 operating expenses. However. thi5 can be exFiained by aspects of expenditure planned
not being deemed ne￿$Sary and others being nK)re cost effecbve than budgeted. Excess reserves will be
used to maintain membership fees at current level rather than increasing them to cover fuiure National
membership fee rises.
Investment Pollcy
The Group doe5 fKJt have surriueiil funds to invest in Longer term investments such os stocks and shares.
The Group has therefore adopted a risk averse strategy to the investment of its fvTrJs. AU funds are heid
in cash using only mainstream banks or L¥Jiiding societies.
This year the Trustee Esoard has again, due to the bathnce held, looked at Investrnent optyons. ta￿ng Into
consideration our reserves p)licy and our operational requirements. The decision was taken to hold some
of the funds in instant access interest bearing attounts. Rates wTrd balances are regul¥iy reviewed and
funds moved accordingly.

vears.

Following the success of our intemational camping trip last year plans were made to repeat the
experlence for ourywng people In Auoust 2026. As a resulc our year-on-year income was hlgher partLv
due to fundraising events and participants staggering payments towards the trip ts the Netherlands.
Although our Income has increased, our expenditijre decreased year on year as arrticipated. thls Is due to
the timing of our international camps. As these camps are planned on a two-year rycie income tsnds to
come in one year with expenditure ocCU￿1ng the fouowing year.
Assets
This year we were fortunate to receive I￿0 grants. one from Bumthouse WirKI Fam Community Fund and
the other from Groundwofks UK, Tesco Stronger Stsrt&
These grants enabled the group to replace rn￿Y of our tents. that had served us well but were now
proving difficult to repair as parts were becoming hard to sourc¢ along with k4JylrrfJ additional marquees
and shelters to help on our larger carnp&
We are hugely grateful to both organisatKJns ￿ givtng us the oppwtunty to improve our resources for
ouryoung People.

Section F- Other- Future Pian$
During 202612027 the group continue to focus on addl￿n81 Trustee appointments, further re¢ruitsnent of
volunteers. and the deveioprr*nt of Young Leaders through the Ywng Leader sd*me.
A focus over the nextfew rmnths is the planning for the next Intemational Camp, taking place in
Holland in August 2026. with pre-camp activitres plenty of fijndrèising. We will also be further
embedding our relationship and collaboration with other scout groups in generaL and 1st Whittiesey
Scouts and Explorers will be part of the Holland 2026 camp.
The 9roup will b• looking to furth•r utilise grant fiJnding and will looking to dpv•lrrJ thp issp of th
Scout Centre to enable more use of the outside sp&e in a var￿ty of weathws. with current options bein9
investigated for enablj'ng a covered area at the rear of the Scout Centre.
