Encouraging the study of the needs of such children and their families and promoting public interest in and recognition of such needs in the local areas. - c) instigating and adhering to the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. ## **Playschool Community** It’s been another busy and successful year at Peter Pan Playschool. Admissions continue to be strong, and we started the year with 22 children after 20 children left for school in July. We end the year with 32 children on roll with 20 moving on. We were full for September but several new starters no longer need the spaces so we’re pushing the advertising to fill the gaps a bit but we’re still in a very strong position having discussed admissions with other local settings recently. Valerie continues to work incredibly hard planning the environment and curriculum to help support the children’s learning and development and she works closely with the rest of the team who share information regarding the children’s interests. This all helps to ensure the provision meets the needs and interests of the children. Over the year, we’ve had a total of 11 children on a Surrey support plan for different levels of need, and Venita as SENDCo has worked incredibly hard to keep these plans and targets regularly reviewed and up to date, as well as applying for early intervention funding to enable us to enhance staffing to help meet these children’s needs. All staff have been responsible for delivering the interventions and targets and then feeding back to Venita to review and set new targes as needed. With the additional funding, we were able to retain Rachel, Clare and Laura in September on fixed term contracts for the year. One child has an EHCP and is going on to a specialist school, another child has an EHCP and is moving into mainstream school. We have 2 children awaiting draft EHCP’s (hopefully) and two more going through the assessment process at the moment – it’s been a lot of time and paperwork but the support we can provide in the early years enables the children to thrive if we can get them the right support when they move onto school so it’s all worth it. Enormous thanks to all the staff team for their dedication and commitment to the children – we’ve had some very tough days supporting some of the children with high levels of dysregulation but the team have risen to the challenge and most of the time the rest of the group haven’t even been aware of what’s been happening. Thanks to Valerie, Venita, Gemma, Vanessa, Jo, Rachel, Clare, Laura. We were joined by Beth Schooling on her Level 2 Early Years placement from October to May and have Venita’s daughter Hannah working with us for this half term before going to complete teacher training in September. The new sensory room we introduced as part of my Level 5 course earlier in the year has been brilliant and the lights and quiet space really helps to give children a break from the main room when they need it. We just need to keep it tidy! We will be hiring a skip and having a good clear out over the summer holidays. We have a high number of children eligible for Early Years Pupil Premium and we’ve used this to cover some additional hours for these children, as well as to top up the staff training budget. Training has included refreshing statutory safeguarding training, childhood trauma training, first aid training to name a few. We’ve also used some of the EYPP to purchase resources. We -2- Docusign Envelope ID: 18DAE3D6-0C3C-8737-838E-29615BCEE1E4 ## **PETER PAN PLAYSCHOOL (CIO)** received some additional funding in the Spring term linked to these children and purchased the new home corner furniture and resources, and paid for some additional speech and language assessment software. Over the Easter holidays, Valerie, Venita, Gemma, Vanessa, Clare, Rachel, Lauren and myself gave up a day to refresh our paediatric first aid training – it’s only mandatory to have one first aider on site but we feel it’s so important so we try to have as many first aiders as possible. The wraparound hours are still going strong – the morning particularly. We have between 4 and 8 children regularly booked in with one for the afternoons. We’ve enjoyed some outings and visits to the church at playschool. We went to the green grocers and Tesco to purchase items to donate to our harvest festival in the autumn term. We also had our nativity play. We had an Easter service and we also visited Eastwick School and St Lawrence School as well as the post office. The children enjoyed making cards and posting them home a couple of times across the year – we used EYPP to fund the stamps. We’ve had half termly staff meetings, and all staff have had at least termly supervision meetings, with all staff having an appraisal in the autumn term. We’ve worked closely with our Surrey advisors who regularly visit to support some of the children and help us with referrals for further support for the children and family. Me and Venita have regularly attended the Surrey Early Years network and the senco network. These are valuable opportunities to hear about changes in Surrey processes, training opportunities, Ofsted trends, and to network with other managers and senco’s. There’s a lot of change happening in Early Years with the expansion of funded childcare and at the moment we seem to be holding our own where many settings are struggling – we’re one of the few settings who have never added charges for funded children and we’re really proud of that. We had a good turn out for village day, thanks to Valerie and Clare for leading this with Leo’s Mum Klara and Teddy and Billy’s Mum Lu. There have been some changes in the staffing over the year, and we had to let Jess go in December after a lengthy process. Enormous thanks to Tamsyn, Klara and Rose on the committee for their support and considerable time during this period. Tamsyn has now stepped down from the committee and Rose and Klara are staying in place to support us with some final administration around the recent processes but will aim to be replaced by Christmas. Kelly resigned during February half term and had a new job to go onto so was unable to work her notice period – enormous thanks to the rest of the team for helping to cover the staffing rota. In April, Lauren made the difficult decision to resign having missed many sessions over the year due to childcare issues. Thankfully her son doesn’t have leukaemia which was a worry for a time and why she had to leave so suddenly, and she recently popped in to see everyone. With losing these staff, whilst it was very sad, it meant we were able to offer permanent contracts to Rachel, Clare and Laura. With the increase in minimum wage and national insurance contributions we’ve had to reduce staffing a bit so it’s all balanced out very well in the end although we will have to keep a very close eye on budget next year as the funding rates haven’t gone up in line with these increases. -3- Docusign Envelope ID: 18DAE3D6-0C3C-8737-838E-29615BCEE1E4 ## **PETER PAN PLAYSCHOOL (CIO)** ## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF PETER PAN PLAYSCHOOL (CIO)** I report to Trustees on my examination of the accounts of Peter Pan Playschool for the year ended 31[st] August 2025. ## **Respective responsibilities of the trustees and examiner** As the charity Trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘The Act’). I report in respect of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. ## **Independent Examiner’s Statement** I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 1. Accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of The Act; or 2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or 3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. Accounting Policies** ## **1.1 Basis of preparation of the financial statements** The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the applicable Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP), on an accruals basis, in alignment with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) issued on 16 July 2014. The financial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the charity. ## **1.2 Fund Accounting** General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion of the Trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the charity and which have not been designated for any other purpose. ## **1.3 Incoming Resources** All income is recognised once the charity has entitlement to the income, it is probable that the income will be received, and the amount of the income can be reliably measured. Income tax recoverable in relation to donations received under Gift Aid is recognised when it is received. ## **1.4 Expenditure** Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to transfer economic benefit to a third party, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be reliably measured. Expenditure is classified by activity. All expenditure is inclusive of VAT where the suppliers have charged VAT. ## **1.5 Going Concern** There are no material uncertainties regarding the charity’s ability to continue as a going concern. -7-
