## **The year in review**

March 2024. It is very much in its planning phase to ensure that it is on a strong foong to enable it to launch its programmes with the ambion that the charity is successful and sustainable. This includes implemenng all the necessary policies and procedures, developing a fundraising strategy and devising an number of pilots to test the feasibility of the current trustees proposal for achieving the charity’s objects.

Over the past year, the charity has conducted preliminary research into various programmes, acvies, and potenal intervenons to achieve its objecves. During this process, several challenges to programme delivery emerged. Notably, the recent announcement of government funding for aer-school care has reduced the need for one of the charity’s planned iniaves. In response, the charity has shied its focus to idenfying alternave programmes and intervenons that effecvely support the most vulnerable families and young people.

Despite new government funding, physical acvity to improve health and wellbeing remains a significant challenge within socially disadvantaged communies in London. Barriers such as limited access to safe and affordable facilies, lack of awareness, cultural factors, and financial pressures connue to prevent many families and young people from engaging in regular exercise. These

challenges are oen compounded by broader issues of poverty and compeng priories. As such, the charity’s aims and objecves remain vital in addressing these persistent inequalies, providing targeted support and inclusive programmes that reach those most in need.

being the trustee board and the founder of the charity.

## **Objecves for the coming year**

**BEANS (Bringing Exercise and Nutrional Support)** . The BEANS iniave is designed to support children and families, parcularly those who are inacve or economically disadvantaged. This targeted programme focuses on engaging children within the school environment, igning a passion for physical acvity.

The programme aims to focus on the physical acvity element, school intervenons and community partnerships over the coming year. While providing essenal nutrional support is a longer term goal for the charity, this will evolve at a later date once the charity has developed strong relaonships with schools, communies and families within the areas it serves. BEANS aims to create a sustainable pathway that extends beyond the school day, enabling children to access affordable, local acvies in their communies aer school, on weekends, and during school holidays. By fostering a lifelong love for movement and promong healthy habits, the iniave aims to improve long-term health and wellbeing for both children and their families.

Over the next year, the charity aims to develop a comprehensive needs-based assessment framework to ensure our work targets the most vulnerable communies effecvely. We will connue engaging with potenal partner schools to refine the scope of our programmes, build strong partnerships, and establish a clear roadmap for launch. Our goal is to collaborate with 6 to 8 schools by December 2025, supporng hundreds of children in accessing high-quality physical acvity programmes. These iniaves will be privately funded through partnerships with various organisaons idenfied by our trustees and fundraising team. Once funding is secured, we will implement our delivery plan and establish robust processes for measuring and reporng the programme's impact.
