Objectives and Activities:

The purposes of the charity as set out in the governing document are:

To advance the education of children from disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK by providing free or subsidised private tutoring lessons (primarily in the subjects of English and maths) and to advance the education and training of young people who have GCSEs in English and Maths under the age of 25 by providing training and employment experiences that progress knowledge and skills in communication and teaching.

This year has been the inaugural year for GENtutors as a registered charity.

Our focus this year has been on establishing a solid foundation by strategizing and preparing for the charity's future activities.

• Writing and reviewing essential policies for tutors and the charity, including:

• Complaints and Disciplinary policy

• Equality and Diversity Policy

• Freedom to Speak Up Policy

• Health and Safety Policy

• Privacy Policy

• Recruitment Policy

• Safeguarding Policy

• Tutor Code of Conduct Policy

• Financial Planning document (ongoing)

• Attending networking events to build connections within the voluntary sector and explore opportunities for corporate volunteering.

• Developing tutoring training program (ongoing)

• Sourcing and curating free educational resources for tutors

• Creating promotional materials and developing a charity website (ongoing)

• Drafting a tutor handbook (ongoing)

Aims for next year:

In the coming year, GENtutors aims to achieve several key milestones, including:

• Finalising tutor training programs and policies.

• Recruiting a Treasurer to support our financial governance.

• Offering the tutor training to volunteers and collecting feedback on its effectiveness, along with input on tutor-related documents and procedures.

• Exploring opportunities for start-up funding to accelerate our development.

• Expanding our team by recruiting additional volunteers and trustees to drive the planning phase forward.

Achievement and Performance:

As GENtutors is still in its early stages of development, the charity has not yet begun delivering its primary services. However, the work undertaken this year has been preparing for the achievement of our long-term goals.

Financial Review:

As of this reporting period, GENtutors has not yet engaged in fundraising activities or applied for external funding. The charity is in the foundational stage of development, focusing on establishing internal policies and strategic planning. Financial activity has therefore been minimal, with no public fundraising or grant applications conducted.

In the coming year, we aim to explore start-up funding opportunities and develop a financial strategy to support the charity’s growth and future operations.
