## **Trustees’ Annual Report for the Period Ended 31 December 2025 Charity Name:  Wirral Footpaths & Open Spaces Preservation Society CIO**

## 1. **Objectives and Activities** 

WFOSPS’s objects are the preservation, maintenance, defence and development of the rights of the public to the use and enjoyment of public highways, footpaths, bridleways, byways and other rights of way, commons, vacant spaces, waste lands and roadside slips in the (former) Hundred of Wirral, free from obstruction, nuisance and annoyance. 

The Society was formed in 1888. 

## 2. **Achievements and Performance** 

- ●We have attended and organised regular volunteer working parties, during the summer months to maintain footpaths.  We inspect the footpaths network and respond to problems brought to our attention by users. 

- ●The Society has strengthened the committee with some new members. 

- ●We produce and distribute a Newsletter twice a year to inform members and the public of our activities. 

## 3. **Financial Review** 

Total income for the year was £1,696.01, primarily from subscriptions and donations. Expenditure was £1,841.33, a large part of which was spent on a footpath improvement, printing, postage costs, and materials. The year ended with a balance of £20,932.29, which will be carried forward to support next year’s activities. 

## 4. **Structure, Governance and Management** 

The Society CIO is governed by its constitution adopted on 12 July 2024. The trustees meet quarterly to review progress and plan activities. All trustees are volunteers and receive no remuneration. 

## 5. **Public Benefit Statement** 



The trustees confirm they have complied their duty to have regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit. Our activities directly benefit the local community by keeping public footpaths and open spaces clear and useable.
